Moving forward either Brunson or Dinwiddie need to man up and defend Conley so we keep a bigger defender on Bog's

Yeah we knew coming in the Gobert and Whitside gave Utah the advantage but some of those rebounds was because our bigs don't box out good.
Powell is almost unplayable without Luka

But when you have to play them both at the same time when Luca is out, it becomes tough

Call me a pessimist but Luca needs to heal enough to ready Monday or this series is toast.

My hot take is that the Mavs lost because Luka didn’t play

Mavs missed like 10 FT's and got killed on the offensive glass
With Luka they win this game by double digits
Without Luka if they make FT's and rebound just a tad better they still should have won this game
That's my take

If Dinwiddie hadn't missed 6 free throws and Maxi that backbreaking 3 then Utah would be roasted by the national media for choking again

Damn that sucks. Absolutely killed on the boards. Only in this game because of the free throw discrepancy. Hate that Luka got hurt when he did. This organization needs a playoff series win.

The game was there for the taking, for sure. If Dinwiddie could hit his fts (the rest of the team was good from the line), if they could have grabbed an extra rebound or two (Luka helps that), or shoot better than 38% and 28% they would have won.

Mavs won’t sniff 36 FTA the rest of the series.

Refs were almost 2006 awful, and Dinwiddie missed those key FTs. We win it if not for that.
Great game considering no Luka. Can't complain. Just need to get a center this summer. AAC was rockin.

If..If....If...
Bottom line: Luka will enter year 5 with no playoff series win yet. The fact that a team like Memphis or Phoenix can lose their star and still win says something about the team building around Luka or lack thereof over the past 4 years.
And Josh Green sucks at basketball. Worthless. Tell me Saddiq Bey or Desmond Bane wouldn't have been a lot better.

Of course they would but fans have to cling onto something with Green to save face. I get it.
He just can't seem to break out of that too raw phase.

Green will never be better than Bey or Bane that was a Mavs FO blunder no doubt.
But Green has improved this year IMO
I expect him to take a another leap next year. He's just in his 2nd year and Rick didn't use him the way Avery does.
If dude can develop into a solid 35-36% 3-PT shooter he'll be a solid rotation 3&D player.
I think the mistake was not getting Dinwiddie last summer when he was available because then you could have possibly had him on the roster with KP without having to add Bertans contract.
Re-signing THJ was a bad decision and said that before coming into this year because he simply doesn't provide you anything if he's not knocking down shots.

Lol. Not a peep from you while Mavs are one of the best teams in the league since the ASB, but a playoff loss without Luka and here you are ready to pounce.

That's why these boards can be intolerable. I feel like the Mavs played exactly as they should have with the exact weaknesses we knew they had. They can't miss threes with their poor rebounding. But this is the case with or without Luka. 28% won't win you many games.

I guess I'm always a glass half full kind of Mavs fan. I can see how, with some adjustments, these Mavs can win game 2.
First off, Kidd has to find a way to keep a better defender on Bogdonovich.
2. Get more shots for Dinwiddie.
3. Give up on Bertans. What he brings in offense doesn't make up for his sieve like defense. Maxi with no offense is a better choice. He's prevent more buckets than Bertans will score. He would battle to get us a few more boards...4 more possessions could have turned this loss into a win.
4. Throw Trey Burkes in there for a few minutes. We desperately need more scoring, and the offense is lost when either Dinwiddle or Brunson sits. Burke is on the roster now because of how he performed in the playoff bubble. Give him a shot.
I have a lot of faith in Kidd's coaching. If he comes away with a split at home, he will have done his job well.

I'm really disappointed in our Big's inability to box out. I mean Gobert is a beast no doubt on the boards but the bigs for Dallas Kleber, Powell and Bertans would just watch the shots go up and not move their feet to locate him and box out.
Also I'm not sure what strategy that was to put Brunson on Bog's.
For crying out loud either him or Dinwiddie need to man up and take the challenge of defending Conley. If one of those guys could just stay in front of Conley that would help because then you could keep Bullock on Bog's and DFS on Mitchell.
Maxi also seems to be a good matchup for Bog's his offense kills Dallas. I guess if I had to pick I'd still take Maxi over Bertans any day. Bertans just frustrates me because teams lick their chops when he enters the game.
Losing this game knowing they had a great shot to win it if they knock down more FT's is really frustrating.

Yikes. I asked if we get swept without Luka. It doesn't look that hard. If we lose both home games, we might as well not even go to Utah.
It's a different ballgame with Luka though. Not having the best player in the sport was always going to make a huge difference.
We played hard and had we hit FTs and not had about 8 random Jazz scrubs hitting acrobatic shots, we have a legit shot.

Ya lots of extenuating family circumstances and global travel for work so the regular season didn't pique my interest but thought I would engage in playoffs since it means more. But appreciate you being the arbiter of activity intensity for the group and the judge on tone. Obviously this team would likely kill Utah with a healthy Luka. My comment was one of frustration that fucking bad luck struck just before playoffs.. How is that pouncing Mr. Snowflake man?

Game time decision/doubtful for game 2.
Don’t think most of us expected Luka back for game 2, hopefully good for game 3
All it takes is win game 2 and everything flips.

They are being overly cautious which I understand. There is no way that if he is not playing they even haven him running those drills.
***EDIT*** I don't mean playing tomorrow. I mean playing relatively soon.
