I was having a difficult time with the timeframe. So once the next trillion dollar bailout is passed will the spike double?

it might double, it might not move...depends on how the bailout is financed.

the giant increase in money supply is a function of bush, paulson, bernanke.

the base has about doubled from a year ago.

this shows just how aggressive the fed has been in responding to the recession.

the long term affects are anyone's guess. with price deflation currently being felt, it certainly hasn't been felt there.

the fed could easily contract the base if the economy began to grow again.

Heard a report that Rising Gas prices have been a result of several factors. Certainly the unrest in the Middle-East and other Oil rich areas, but that one major factor has been Obama's ban on off-shore drilling.

Seems that the last time prices went up, the previous administration allowed the USA to tap into its own reserves as well as its own off-shore resources which forced the other Oil rich nations to respect the competition and thus lower prices.

However now we are are back on a "Ban" status and thus rely even more on Oil Imports, which has caused for another drastic rise in oil prices.

What will it take to reopen the capabilities of the USA to harvest its own oil via off-shore drilling and thus lower the cost, which ultimately helps the citizens of the United States experience lower spending for simple day to day business?

Yeah, several factors....something like......
  • 1 part Mid-East turmoil;
  • 99 parts Quantative Easing; and
  • 1/1,000,000,000th parts bans on off shore drilling
