Trade Det/Philly
One trade that should be made before the trade deadline:
Detroit trades: C Zeljko Rebracca (2.7 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.2 apg in 10.1 minutes)
PF Darko Milicic (0.9 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.2 apg in 3.2 minutes)
PG Lindsey Hunter (3.7 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.5 apg in 16.0 minutes)
Detroit receives: SF Glenn Robinson (17.6 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.5 apg in 33.5 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +10.3 ppg, +1.3 rpg, and -0.4 apg.
Philadelphia trades: SF Glenn Robinson (17.6 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.5 apg in 33.5 minutes)
Philadelphia receives: C Zeljko Rebracca (2.7 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.2 apg in 19 games)
PF Darko Milicic (0.9 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.2 apg in 15 games)
PG Lindsey Hunter (3.7 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.5 apg in 11 games)
Change in team outlook: -10.3 ppg, -1.3 rpg, and +0.4 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED
Detroit Lineup:
Billips
Rip
Big Dog
Prince
Wallace
BG - Atkins,Sura
BF - Williamson
BC - Campbell
Philly - 2 expiring contracts and a young BIG
Detroit looks scary then. With the ability to score the Big Dog brings. Ouch.
Philly gets to start all over, and rebuild with AI and the young ones. They get rid of the second Volume Scorer.

RE:Trade Det/Philly
You couldn't pay me to take Glenn Robinson. I've always been a fan of his, but the guy is starting to earn his rep as a cancer.
Maybe it's just a case of being in the wrong places in his career, but I would try to avoid him.

Probably true, but he does one thing real well. Score.
Add that to the defense that Detroit plays, and they become a very scary team. Probably the 5-7 best team in the league.
If Larry Brown can put up with AI, he is sure to be able to put up with the Big Dog.

At least AI plays hard every night.
No way Det. give up on Darko so soon. Talk about a PR nightmare. You also have to consider that Okur is a FA after this season and as a 2nd rounder his team will only be able to offer him the MLE unless they are under the cap. I don't believe Philly is.

RE:Trade Det/Philly
Sounds like most wouldn't give up Darko for the Big Dog.
Let's see, a player, #2 in the draft, that might become Dirk, or maybe Bill Wennington. In trade for the #1 pick in the '94 draft who is a proven 20 point per night scorer.
Glen Robinson's weakness - defense, leadership. His strength - scoring.
Detroit's weakness - scoring. Their strength - defense, leadership.
Darko's strength - POTENTIAL
PR nightmare - yes. Make Detroit more balanced, and a better team, yes. Make them as strong as Indiana maybe, with possibly putting them as the best team in the East.

Im sorry but draft position has nothing to do with overall skill. Many players have been taken later in the draft that have proven to be better than the majority of players taken ahead of them, thus making that part of your argument extremely irrelevant.
At this point all we have seen from Darko is glimpses and signs of great potential..but I would take Darko's potential over Robinsons services any day of the week and twice on Sunday. A lot of the reason Darko hasnt been playing is because of Larry Brown..he is teaching him to be an inside force in the NBA. Darko's style will not resemble Dirk's ...I think many poeple will be very impressed with this kid next year when hes ready to show his stuff.... he practices one on one with Ben Wallace every day for crying out loud! Patience is a virtue, and Detroits management would be murdered if they even considered such a trade...they'll wait. Darko's not going anywhere.

I only use the Draft # to say that Big Dog was a high draft pick as well. If Darko turns into a 20 pt per night scorer (and I hope he does), then I will be wrong. Big Dog has been doing that since his rookie year.
YR TM PPG
94-95 MIL 21.9
95-96 MIL 20.2
96-97 MIL 21.1
97-98 MIL 23.3
99-00 MIL 20.9
00-01 MIL 22.0
01-02 MIL 20.7
02-03 ATL 20.8
CAREER 21.3
Detroit needs a scorer, and they would be very good.
Darko may or may not be that, but IMO they will be much better for the next 2-3 years with Big Dog instead of Darko.
Do you want to be very good (not great) now, and take a shot at the title, or try it in 3-5 years when he develops?
I take a shot at the title now. I also agree that due to PR they probably do not send Darko anywhere.
