Default Former all stars who were role players with the Mavs

Just thought it'd be a fun question. The Mavs have had a number of ex-All Stars traded or picked up in mid-season that became role players, some of whom were instrumental to the success in the playoffs. Who do you like the most?
David Lee
Deron Williams
Devin Harris
Amare Stoudemire
Rajon Rondo
Elton Brand
Vince Carter
Shawn Marion
Jason Kidd
Caron Butler
Peja Stojakovic
Jerry Stackhouse
Eddie Jones
Antawn Jamison
Antoine Walker
Juwan Howard
Nick Van Exel
Tim Hardaway

I personally liked Vince Carter's storyline of how he was a wash joining Mavs, then was rather good in Dallas' uniform and when he joined Grizzlies he fell back to the black hole.

Out of these players I think J. Kidd is my favourite. Nice and smart guy who was crucial in the 2011 championship. Although he's had his best years with the Nets, he was still pretty damn good at Dallas. Second would be Shawn Marion who was arguably the best defender the Mavs had in the last 10 years.

And I liked Vince of course, although he sometimes drove me crazy with his 3 point attempts from near half court

Caron Butler was my favourite non-Mav during that time and was stoked we got him.

Although Jamison wasn't a former All-Star when he became a Mav, mine is easily Jamison

Vince Carter without a doubt. He's one of my all time favorite players. I thought he was done when we signed him, but I'm glad I was 100% wrong. I also really liked what Caron Butler brought to the team. I never really rooted for him before he came here, but he became one of my favorite Mavs players. Partially because of his attitude and his play on the court, but also because I used to kill people in NBA Live with him. Nick Van Exel is another former all star that is one of my favorite Mavs.

Not a fav, but Jamaal Magloire was an all star you could add to the list.

I'm not going to rank Williams/Lee since they haven't played in the playoffs for us, nor am I including Jamison/Walker since I missed most of that season, but here's how I'd rank everyone else based on importance/attitude/personal preference:

Jason Kidd - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXp5...&nohtml5=False
Shawn Marion - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Cbt...&nohtml5=False
Vince Carter - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSVz...&nohtml5=False
Nick Van Exel - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zjtlEKa1hY
Jerry Stackhouse - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTt2...&nohtml5=False
Devin Harris - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrfr5ZFn0Cg
Peja Stojakovic - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I--L...&nohtml5=False
Caron Butler - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZIJ...&nohtml5=False
Amare Stoudemire - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih0G...&nohtml5=False
Elton Brand - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcDckCGXgoY
Juwan Howard - had 2 separate stints in Dallas, but I'll be damned if I can find any highlights.
Eddie Jones - no highlights available of him waiving a towel from the bench.

Rajon Rondo - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYHxY3V4lJQ

I'll forever consider these 4 quintessential Mavericks (though I'd rank Stackhouse in front of Harris). A few others were great additions, including VC, Peja, and Butler, but they didn't play long enough with the Mavs during a good enough stretch to be considered franchise players IMO and I still think of them as a Raptor/King/Wizard. I like Deron Williams and David Lee here a lot - but I think it is remained to be be seen whether they stick around and keep performing at a high level.

The only reason I ranked Stack lower than he could have been is because he faded HARD over his last 3 seasons with us... I actually cringed whenever he took the floor during his final season in Dallas.

But that flagrant on Shaq is still one of my favorite Mavs moments ever.

A lot of great names on that list. I will go with Marion for his 2-way play during the championship year and leading up to it.

If I'm rating it on the biggest 180 of hatred to love, it's gotta be Peja. I DESPISED that guy with the Kings, but wanted to personally carry him around on my shoulders during our title run.

I hated marion with the suns, too. But not to the level of Peja.

and yes, LOVE that stack flagrant.

Kidd and Harris. Liked Jamison as well, but his short stint didn't mean a whole lot since we had too many players playing the same position.

Oh man, Nick the quick versus Sacramento in the playoffs was something to watch.

Have added him to the list along with Tim Hardaway.

I initially wanted to make a poll but there are too many of them.

I'm surprised how much love Vince got just because Marion and Kidd from the championship team are there, but he was my favourite non-Mav player even before coming to Dallas.

Agree with all. I actually thought VC would be a decent pickup, simply because all he had to do was be better than a really old Peja, which wasn't going to be that hard. But he was much better than that, and I thought the heart of the team while he was here. Classic example of a former star player who was very accepting of his role here, and seemed really glad to just be able to bring what he could bring, and have that be all that was expected. A real testament to how well Carlisle's system and philosophy and approach really benefits players that may have fallen off elsewhere.

Updated my list to include Nick "F'em" Van Exel (forgot he was a former All-Star):

Not sure how far you want to go back but I think Cedric Ceballos, AC Green, Jameer Nelson, Christian Laettner, Dennis Rodman, and Adrian Dantley could be on that list as well.

Might want to check for sure because those are coming from memory.
