Default 2015 NBA draft redo...where do you pick Anderson?

I think hindsight being 20/20 you take him at 9 over Frank Kaminsky or possibly 5 over Mario Hezonja. Either way, I definitely think he is a top 10 pick in his draft.

The only issues for me seeing him in top 10(right now anyway) is that this draft looks pretty good after just 1 year. And the ones where I think JA is neck and neck with, they are all underclassmen which would get the nod in most cases from NBA GM's. I think he would be at worst top 12-14. But guys like Booker, Turner, Lyles, and Portis all have cases to be right there with him(they too are outside the top 10) or higher and all are younger as well. From a position standpoint though if you throw out age it's interesting to debate Winslow, Johnson and Simba right now. All of those guys bring something to the game without scoring.

--Edit--
Great thread btw- Will be interesting to watch going forward.

Default A Lottery pick

I would put him at #12. Moved Bobby Portis up since he could have eventually replaced Dirk in the future.

A little off topic, but...

2012 - Jae Crowder
2013 - Donnie wanted Giannis, Cuban bungled it
2014 - no draft pick
2015 - Justin Anderson

Is it just me, or are the Mavs getting better at this whole draft thing? I mean, if Cuban just let Donnie and the scouts do their job, then that could have been 3 solid picks in the last 3 drafts (not including 2014).

I initially thought Portis was a no brainer pick over Anderson with some solid games, but he hasn't really impressed me lately. Also doesn't play much defense.

I could see him going as high as 10th but I don't think we have enough information on most of these guys to evaluate where they should have been drafted.

He would get top 15 but there are a lot of guys there who I think will eventually be solid players in this league. Really good draft. I wouldn't be shocked all of most of those are solid contributors in the next two or three years.

Phoenix might have the best steal in the draft.

The stupidity in 2012 and 2013 sort of kills any success they have had in Crowder and Anderson. They got Crowder in 2012 but they did some very stupid things that year as well.

About the same. Maybe 15? He has very little offense. But the potential is there.

Agreed. It was Cuban who wanted to save money to get Dwight instead of grting Giannis so he traded back. It was also Cuban who chose Satnam Singh just so he could tap into the Indian market. Cuban is all business. He needs to let Donnie have full control during the draft.

This will be a great thread to revisit 5 years from now.
Will be interesting to see where Anderson fares when that class reaches its prime.

LOL, I'm sure you'll be able to visit via Wayback Machine, but I don't think there's going to be a whole lot of opportunity for I-dold-you-sos.

It won't be too difficult to look back at that class and see who is still around and what impact all of them are having on their respective teams.

Some of those guys look like they could have long careers but the impact they'll have could be limited.
I think Anderson has the tools to have a Marion type impact and career if he remains healthy.

My point is to evaluate how Mark and Donnie did on picking this one 5 years from now, not for any "I told you sos".

The Wayback Machine is a web archiver, not a basketball resource... My comment was about whether the site would still be up in 5 years.

But I do agree that it's hard to tell what these guys will be yet. It usually takes at least the duration of a rookie contract to know what you really have in a guy. Some players start strong then fizzle out after a couple years, while others take some time to get going.
