Default The Tyson Chandler appreciation thread

We will miss him...again.
Couldn't have won the trophy without him in 2011.
Hope this means we get D. Jordan.

@ESPNSteinLine: ESPN sources say Tyson Chandler has agreed to a four-year deal with the Phoenix suns worth $52 million

I wonder if we can swing a deal for him in that last year of that contract too.

Seems like destiny.

This offseason is falling harder than we thought Houstons did last offseason.

I'm going to be so mad if Mavs fail to land DeAndre Jordan and let go of their 3rd best player on the team for nothing. I hope mavs also get Bledsoe in a sign and trade. This just was a huge surprise. Tyson was supposed to be our backup plan but now we have no backup plan.

Its hard to realize he's only been with the Mavs for two years collectively. It feels like he's been a lifelong member of this team.

The best center this organization has seen yet he wasn't worthy enough to get re-signed.

It could still be a possibility...

@ESPNSteinLine: Suns spent all their cap space on Tyson Chandler

@UnderDog

I'll forgive Cuban if mavs land Bledsoe for Tyson. I'm all for the youth movement.

Looks like we could end up getting Wright back in a S&T, so at least that could take a bit of the sting off.

Nope forget it

Looks like Bledsoe has a better chance at going to the Blazers instead of the Mavs

As one source sagely explains: Suns certainly have player to appeal to PORT in sign-and-trade if LaMarcus Aldridge chooses PHX: Eric Bledsoe

Ha, that would be nice, need to root for the Suns to get a commit from another big free agent.

You need to stop freaking out over what's possible and take a moment to think about what's probable... Why the hell would Aldridge choose Phoenix over San Antonio?

The lockout? CBA negotiations? Everyone questioning if there was going to be a season of basketball? That was summer of 2011...

@Kidd Karama

Me too but I'm talking about the off season. We had to pick up players like Mike James, Fisher, Odom and Chris Kaman etc. Didn't even get a chance to defend our title cause we were not loyal to the players that helped us win it all. I don't want us to pick up washed up players like Hibbert and Mo Williams and call it a off season. This is a hit or miss off season cause the cap space gets bigger for every team next season.

Think he mean't summer of 2012?

Anyway, this is still shi**y no matter who we get. Sucks to get the guy back and watch him leave again.

That was always the plan if we landed Jordan... And if we do, I won't miss Tyson one bit.

I love the guy, but he got abused by Dwight Howard in the playoffs.

With TC walking is it now the Raymond Felton trade? I can't even say those words out loud(seriously try it)... I break out in laughter before I can even finish saying it.

This is a fair point, and one that doesn't seem to get much discussion.

Still, if we don't get DAJ, then we're taking about possibly getting Hibbert. I don't know if I can tune in to watch Hibbert play on a nightly basis...

Dwight just happens to be the best 5 in the league or the 2nd best if you consider Anthony Davis a 5. You don't see Howard's every night and Chandler was solid for us last year. Probably our most consistent player. The least of our concern on defense anyway.

What did you expect?

The only two guys that improve this team are Matthews and Jordan and there is no real Backup Plan because all interesting guys are signing throughout the league today and we just lost the two most likeable guys from last year besides Dirk.

Hard to be optimistic about this team ONCE AGAIN wasting another year of Dirk and failing in free agency which is becoming a yearly thing now. Its still early but as of now there has been nothing optimistic and we've seen this story before. We are sitting here watching guys fly off the board.....even our own guys and now we are back to that familiar part of free agency where we pray and hope we get a guy and if we don't we are left standing with nothing.

You & I are sitting here watching players fly off the board, but it's not like the FO is sitting around in Dallas with their thumbs up their asses -- they've been busily courting DeAndre Jordan and Wes Matthews since free agency started... Are you suggesting that their time would have been better spent trying to bring back Aminu and Chandler?

I find it difficult to worry too much about Plans B & C disappearing when Plan A is still on the table. At least wait until the top-tier FAs make their decisions before passing judgement on our offseason.

@matt_winer: Tyson Chandler is example of pro's pro w/specific skills thriving w/out scoring. On track to earn nearly $190M w/out ever avg'ing 12 ppg.

I'm not entirely sure if that's a compliment or not...

Well, Tyson is certainly excellent at selling himself. I do mean that as a compliment. He just knows how to talk the talk.

I'll always appreciate what Tyson brought in 2011. But a 4 year contract? So basically you want to gamble on his age and durability within the 4 years. I would have hoped he sign for 2 in Dallas. Future endeavor.

I find it difficult to worry too much about Plans B & C disappearing when Plan A is still on the table. At least wait until the top-tier FAs make their decisions before passing judgement on our offseason.
Funny, Plan A is still on the table.

I'm really going to miss Tyson Chandler. He is a defensive monster and a leader. Deandre Jordan is someone Dallas must sign to close up the wounds for the loss of Tyson. Deandre Andre is a young athletic shot blocker. Tyson is more of a leader and a better free throw shooter, but with Jordan's youth and a little bit more reliable than Tyson on offense, I hope it works out for the better for Dallas.

Step 1: Don't re-sign Tyson Chandler.
Step 2: Fail to acquire Deandre Jordan.
Step 3: Acquire a player that is nowhere in the league of Chandler or Jordan.
Step 4: Fanbase forbids other fans from critiquing MBT.
It's the same thing almost every year with this team.
