The trick will be getting Rick to keep his minutes under 23 per night. Really could use one more big body. Unless Powell and Salah really improve their rebounding

Bogut is a lot more athletic and nimble than people think.

Bogut highlights vs france. His passing and backdoor cuts are a work of art.
He was matched up against Gobert, Lauvergne and at times Diaw.

HA! Having a Draymond Lite, as far as rebounding and bringing it up the court would create lots of fast break mismatches for spot up shooters like Seth.

I love that Bogut is getting fired up for the NBA season. I must say I was hesitant at first when he was going to Rio - with his injury history and all. But I considered it also a good chance for him to get into the rhythm of playing basketball and he will be all out from game 1.

How the Olympics saved Andrew Bogut's summer
Quote:
“If it wasn’t right, I’d put my hand up and I’m on a flight back home. It was good enough to play,” Bogut said, adding that Cuban “has been great. We have a great relationship via email and via text. The whole thing was, if you feel like you’re 100 percent, and you feel like your knee is a go, we’re going to support you. I couldn’t ask for a better organization to give me that confidence.”

Probably not going to last, but this is the first team to outscore Team USA in any quarter.
Australia 44- USA 39.
Bogut with 11 pts in the quarter on 5-5 shooting. 3PFs, though.

Aussies are playing impressive and Bogut tops it. Much better Olympic team than what Dirk had with Germany. This is a fun game to watch

Doesn't really surprise me. Barnes is the worst forward on the roster, and that is no insult to him.

Kind of amazing how hard Bogut and the Aussies pushed Team USA today... Looking forward to seeing what that guy can do in a Mavs uni.

Really liked his passing and nice touch around the basket.
Liked the hard fouls and picks he made.
Best passing center we will have had? I think yes.

Not much motivating to do. He just plays behind Carmelo who is overrated in the NBA but kills it in international play.

Andrew Bogut open to staying with Mavs long term
Quote:
“From what I’ve seen so far I love it,” he said. “It’s much more suited to me as a person. I like California. But Texas, just the people here and the mentality’s a little slower probably than California with the every-day helter-skelter life. Whereas here it’s a little bit different culturally, in a good way. I wouldn’t say California or Texas is better. For myself, it feels like just a cool city. I like it. There’s a lot of good places to go. I didn’t realize how big the Dallas-Fort Worth area is. There’s a lot to do here, a lot of good restaurants and good cafes, a lot of nice people.
“When I first got here I couldn’t believe how nice the people were. People who didn’t even know who I was, just talking. ‘Hello. How are you? How’s your day?’ when you go into a shop. You just don’t hear that anymore. I guess it’s kind of that Texas mentality. I tweeted about it and some people were like, ‘You’re crazy, it never happens,’ but I experienced the first three, four days I was here. People were very nice to me. If I can be here long term, yeah, I’d love to.”

I think it's finally time we sign a center long term, barring serious injury or his play falling off a cliff. So sick of the 1 year cycle of centers. Yet Bogut is in the last year of the contract, but is there any big name centers that will be free agents in 2017? I hope we're not chasing them just sign Bogut long term.

I was hoping we could have found a way to work out a trade for Bogut when Howard was a FA and had GSW on his supposed short list along with us and Houston.
Fortunately for GSW Howard chose Houston.

I'm afraid you're wrong. Harden is 1 season away from being the first player ever to lead the league in TO's 3 straight years. It will go well with his all time single season TO leader record and his playoff single game TO record. That's quite an achievement to break so many records in just 4 years as a starter. #LoserBall

I don't know how happy I'd be with us giving Bogut upwards of $20M at his age, but as long as he is relatively healthy/productive I could live with it. Let's just stay conscious of the fact that giving him that kind of contract effectively takes us out of the FA market next summer, assuming Dirk opts in.

Can't we go over the cap to sign Bogut since we traded for him thus we have his bird rights? Also isn't the cap going to be over 100 million? Besides Bogut's already talking about wanting to stay and he's only making 11 million this year while it's possible I'm just not seeing him expecting a big raise to 20 million suddenly.
Truthfully it's just way too early to even consider everything that can happen between now and next summer. For all we know Dirk could retire and that's just one of a ton of other possibilities, but if he doesn't retire I don't see him preventing the Mavs from trying to sign any FA's he never has done that even this past season he only signed a big contract when we had who we had and there was no one else to chase and he left the opt out option for next season in my view there was no reason to have it except to help this team sign someone good if the option presents itself. However if Dirk just opts in and Bogut wants 20 million together I can see your point but I doubt both of those things happpen I'm thinking neither happen.

If Bogut came back it would be the only free agent we would get I think. We have his rights but he has a 16m cap hold until we resign him or another team does or we renounced his rights. With Dirk's 25m we are 22m over the cap and Dwill has 11m hold. More than likely if Mavs kept 1 of them I think they would have to keep both because you won't find a better replacement for either for the chump change we would have left when you factor in holds and bringing Dirk's 25m down to around 10. Or at least I think that's where we are at.

Cap will be 102 million next year up 10 million, not sure if you factored that in.
