Default Tape of collegian dunking on LeBron confiscated

Tapes of collegian dunking on LeBron confiscated
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baske...nk-video_N.htm

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — What happens at LeBron's camp stays at LeBron's camp.

A minor controversy erupted at the LeBron James Skills Academy on Monday night when two videographers recorded a pickup game in which Xavier's Jordan Crawford dunked on James.

Gary Parrish reported on CBSSports.com that a Nike representative confiscated tapes of the dunk after conferring with James.

A representative with Nike, which runs the camp at the University of Akron in James' hometown, made no mention of Crawford's dunk.

He said the tapes were confiscated because videotaping of after-hours pickup games at the camp is not allowed.

"Nike has been operating basketball camps for the benefit of young athletes for decades and has long-standing policies as to what events are open and closed to media coverage. Unfortunately, for the first time in four years, two journalists did not respect our no videotaping policy at an after-hours pickup game following the LeBron James Skills Academy," said Nike spokesman Derek Kent on Wednesday.

A spokesman for James said he had no comment.

The camp features 80 top basketball prospects from around the nation.

Crawford said his dunk happened in the first 20 minutes of a game that lasted about two hours and did not prompt any reaction from James.

"We just went on playing," Crawford said Wednesday. "It was exciting just to be playing on the same court as him. I can see why he is so great at what he does."

Makes me appreciate Dirk even more. The NBA features way too many crappy guys who seem to be mainly interested in protecting a certain image of themselves, even though that image is just soooo lame. I guess success works as an excuse for anything.

I second what dalger said. Dirk handles everything his way, with respect to everybody. Other superstars just think about themselves. I can imagine LeBron acting out his own "Practice" skit, just like AI's.

James: "I got dunked on in Practice? Not a game, not a GAME! Practice."

Seeing how this is in the trade and draft section, I guess we are considering that Xavier kid?

NBA players get so worked up about "getting dunked" on. When even a monster like Dwight Howard "gets dunked on", it's possible to happen to anyone. I don't know why Lebron let this get under his skin so much, but it's kind of sorry of him. And it probably hurts his image more than just letting the tape get out. I mean does anyone really even remember when Devin Harris got schooled in horse by that nobody last offseason?

I don't mean to take anything away from Lebron. He's talented, successful, rich. For that, I applaud him. He might even be a nice guy in general. With that said, it's just disappointing to see such a tremendous athlete taking himself way too seriously and being a subpar role model.

It's not just the importance of his (fake) image for whatever (fake) reason. Not too long ago, as is well known, he openly said that he's not willing to shake his opponent's hand in case of a defeat. Sportsmanship at its best.

A few minutes ago, I read a highly recommended article in the Star-Telegram about Roger Federer's Wimbledon victory. Like Lebron (and probably Kobe), Federer is arguably the best at what he does, and still he's such a class act, always respectful, humble and down to earth.

True greats like Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi or now Roger Federer, to name a few, make guys like Lebron look really bad in comparison. James' latest episode is just another example.
