Forward rotation
I havn't thought through who will be on our active roster or not, but here is what we have:
1 Jason Terry
1 Darrell Armstrong (FA)
1 Devin Harris
2 Maurice Ager
2 Jerry Stackhouse
2 Adrian Griffin (FA)
2 Greg Buckner
3 Josh Howard
4 Dirk Nowitzki
4 Austin Croshere
4 Josh Powell
5 Erick Dampier
5 DeSagana Diop
5 Didier Ilunga-Mbenga
We have a severe deficiency at the 3 spot. Granted, the 3 position has somewhat disappeared from the NBA, but we have a bunch of swing men, that really can't do much as forwards. Who is going to backup Josh Howard? Can we really survive with only 3 true forwards and a handful of guards or am I missing something?

Stackhouse and Adrian Griffin are fine at the 3 spot. Probably better at the 3 than the 2.

Adrian Griffin and Rawle Marshall are most likely the backup 3s behind JHoward (and Marshall will spend the year in Ft Worth unless someone gets injured).
Stack is better as a 2, along with Ager and Buckner.

Griffin is the man to backup the three. I really hope the Mavs can resign that guy.

Rawle is really our plan at the 3, although I don't think he has the girth to be a solid 3. He does however have the height.

Probably not. I expect it will be Devin and Terry at the 1 and 2 spots.

I sorta think he will. Devin really hasn't proven that long-term he can handle the pg role. He'll have to earn it this year.

this would be my guess as well...though I'd like to see the reigns handed to him from the get go in 06/07, I think AJ might take a different approach...and that might be wise.

Devin's got the potential to be a Tony Parker on offense and with much better defense, of course!
It's time now to just let him be the starter from the pre-season and see how he develops over the course of a full year!
For a 2nd year PG who's been with 2 head coaches with totally contrasting styles while getting inconsistent minutes right through, if the only noticeable weakness is his hesitant outside jumper, I think we are well set with him for years to come.
AJ... hand him the reigns please!

Don't worry sike, we know you're the president of Devin Harris fan club... or is it DHWS?!

Until Devin Harris can hit outside shots on a consistent basis he shouldn't start. Terry is the shooter that is needed in the mavs offensive lineup. Teams will pack it in but once Harris starts burning teams for playing like that than he should start.

So he should be like Tony Parker and hit the outside shot consistently before he starts? ?

Well he's competing with Jason Terry and I don't think Avery wants to go small or at least start off going small.
