Very close to what Howard makes. Just over 800k.

It would have to be Damp for Laettner/2 No. 1s and then Eschmeyer/Dickau for Najera at a later date, I guess.

Thanks Lonny..was just crunching the numbers to see if there were a couple of different deals involved.

RE:Hardline reporting a coming trade
Avery clearly won't be signed to a player contract at this point.
grndmstr - Forgot about the TE, but that's just going to be used to pay Dampier more money.
If Dickau is included, it's a second deal involving Najera and Esch.

RE:Hardline reporting a coming trade
Dickau can't be traded with Eschmeyer until September. The Warriors have a trade exception to balance salary to Najera.

I hate that we sent out 2 first rounders and had to take Esch.

RE: Hardline reporting a coming trade
It is a bit painfull but here is how I look at it. Would you make this move:
Mavs Trade:
Walker
Laetner
Najera
3 Mill
1 First Rounder
Mavs recieve
Dampier
Esch
Terry
Alan Henderson
I make that move

RE:Hardline reporting a coming trade
It's got to be a split deal and will be official on the Dickau/Eschmeyer side for Najera next month. ESPN finally put it on their website.

RE: Hardline reporting a coming trade
kg, couldn't the deal work as three separate trades? Damp for L8 and a 1st rounder, Eddie for Esch, and TE plus another 1st for Dickau?

RE:Hardline reporting a coming trade
to look at the possitive side.... The ATL pick may never happen, i think it will dissolve into 1 million dollars. The next draft pick we can give is in 2008. Does anyone really expect Philly to make it to the playoffs 2 times in 3 years????

Doesn't Dallas also have a $1.3 mil TE from the Walker trade last year that they could use to get Dickau?

RE:Hardline reporting a coming trade
Dickau is in there because Eschmeyer does not come within 15% of Eddie's salary. That tells me it's 2 deals. If it was 1 deal, we would have to wait until September. I think it's a split deal with the Dampier trade now and the Esch/Dickau trade in September.

Yes, that could work, because we have enough in the way of TEs to absorb Esch's extra salary and Dickau's salary now.

RE:Hardline reporting a coming trade
Guys, training camp isnt starting for a while. Waiting until september for the second trade to OFFICIALLY happen is Ok. As long as it happens. Escpecially because we arent going to trade esch/dickau anytime this summer.

Yeah, nobody's complaining. We're just going through the mental gymnastics.
The more I think about it, this is probably a reasonable price to pay for Dampier.
Good trade for the Mavs.
No more excuses, that's for sure.

As a big GS fan as well, I'm loving this trade for both sides.

Here's how I look at it.
Dallas trades:
Antoine Walker
Antawn Jamison
Eduardo Najera
No. 1 pick in 2007 (I'm assuming here)
Dallas receives:
Erick Dampier
Jason Terry
Jerry Stackhouse
Devin Harris
Alan Henderson
Evan Eschmeyer
Dan Dickau
That's a really good trade.

Actually, now that I double checked the figures I may have been wrong, since Eddie's salary exceeds Esch's by more than 115% +100,000 according to hoopshype. So it might have to be two deals, L8 and Eddie for Damp and Esch being the first, in which case it wouldn't become official until the 24th.

RE: Hardline reporting a coming trade
Good point MFF. Everyone wants to find a winner in every trade. Shortsited I say.
I think this trade works for everyone. Good for the Mavs, and gppd for the Warriors.

talk about a robbery. we get younger, more athletic, and better defensively. and the biggest piece we gave up was Antoine freaking Walker.

Jamison is a bigger piece than walker IMO.

RE:Hardline reporting a coming trade
Ape,
Me dumb you smart. Mavs retarded you genius. Come on get over it, anyone that can average 12 points and 12 rebounds is decent as you so eloquently put it. If he isn't making substantially more then why is it considered a contract year. He was due to make 2 years at 16 million.

Agreed, let's retrace this shall we and see how good it is exactly for the Mavs...
Mavs trade:
Christian Laettner
Loy Vaught
Etan Thomas
Courtney Alexander
Hubert Davis
Mavs receive:
Juwan Howard
Calvin Booth
Mavs trade:
Juwan Howard
Tim Hardaway
Donnell Harvey
Mavs receive:
Raef LaFrentz
Nick Van Exel
Avery Johnson
Tariq Abdul-Wahad
Mavs trade:
Nick Van Exel
Avery Johnson
Evan Eschmeyer
Popeye Jones
Mavs receive:
Antawn Jamison
Chris Mills
Danny Fortson
Jiri Welsch
Mavs trade:
Raef LaFrentz
Jiri Welsch
Chris Mills
Mavs receive:
Antoine Walker
Tony Delk
Mavs trade:
Antawn Jamison
Mavs receive:
Jerry Stackhouse
Devin Harris
Christian Laettner
Mavs trade:
Antoine Walker
Tony Delk
Mavs receive:
Jason Terry
Alan Henderson
Mavs trade:
Danny Fortson
Mavs receive:
Calvin Booth
Mavs trade:
Christian Laettner
Eduardo Najera
Mavs receive:
Erick Dampier
Evan Eschmeyer
Dan Dickau
So...
Essentially we trade away this:
Christian Laettner
Loy Vaught
Etan Thomas
Courtney Alexander
Hubert Davis
And end up with this:
Erick Dampier
Jason Terry
Jerry Stackhouse
Devin Harris
Alan Henderson
Evan Eschmeyer
Dan Dickau
Gosh darn we make out like bandits...
