What happened to Caron? No Marion? Do we not have any starting forwards?

Chandler pisses me of the last games. He never comes from the helpside and try to get a block, does not box out very well, just plays pisspoor!

I don't understand why Chandler still bites on the pump fake...Duncan faked him out how many times in the last game? Chandler's been in the NBA for how long now?

Weird injury. He came up lame while jumping, with no contact. I usually fear the worst on those types of injuries, but he walked to the locker room on his own, so hopefully he'll be OK.

Off topic: Watching the Heat news conference. Looks like LeBron left his hairline back in Cleveland when he ran off to Miami.

I don't expect to win many games with 4 of our best 8 players out.
Let's just get healthy and in-tune by April. That's really all I care about.

Knock on wood, the big two in terms of healthy players: your oldest player (Kidd) and the previously often-injured center (Chandler).

Despite that defensive improvements we are right in the middle of the pack defending the paint. So no change in that regard to 09/10. I think people might overlook that in the general hype of being an "elite" defensive team. We still have to live with the fact that we neither defend nor score in the paint on a nightly basis.
But you are right with the rebounding. -40 over the last 3 games without Dirk is crap.

Butler is heading back to Dallas for an MRI.
Carlisle called it potentially serious knee injury.

Carlisle literally looked like he was going to cry when talking about Caron. He was talking about how tough butler was to walk off the court. Great potential to be a serious injury. I feel so bad for Caron right now.

This is another example where I'm glad RC is the coach.
He's been in very tough situations where he's had to deal with make-shift lineups and rotations, he's found a way to make it work.
With that being said, It really doesn't sound good at all with Butler.

Well, if he's out for the season or some such, I'd imagine we might start seriously considering trading his contract (if somebody will take it just for the financial relief, despite the fact that he won't be able to play).

Terry shot 6-31 over the last two games...

I'm honestly planning for the worst with his timetable. I think you'd have to find a bad team that's ready to start over and possesses a player that's great but not in the long-term plans.

When a player goes down without any obvious reason it is most likely serious. We should prepare for the worst.

i guess we'll be going as far as a hobbled dirk can carry the team, because he's apparently going to be getting no help for the rest of the year.

Butler will stay in Milwaukee tonight and then fly back to Dallas early tomorrow to get examined.

Hmm, things are getting worse faster than I can lower my standards...
I actually fell asleep an hour before the game and woke up at the end of the 4th quarter. Butler's injury is probably worse than the result and made this game tough to win. Dirk, Butler, Marion and Roddy being out is just a lot to overcome, especially in the scoring department. I'm not sure we can expect to win any game without those four guys on the court. Jet and Haywood being in a horrible slump doesn't help either.
Hopefully, Caron will be okay and back sooner rather than later. It would be quite unfortunate if this once-promising season fell victim to the injury bug.

The overall consensus was to trade Butler for a true 2nd option anyway to make an extended playoff run. You can agree with that or not, but maybe this injury will get things started.
I feel bad for the team. They looked great until Dirk went down and you really got the feeling that they were into a very promising season, especially with Roddy back at some point.

At one point that might have been true, likely very early in the season. I highly doubt they were really inclined to move him before tonight unless something swept them off of their feet. He had really found his groove over the past couple of weeks.

I know knee injuries are Dr. Souryal specialty but:
1. Diagnosing the injury (MRI) and performing the surgery are two different things.
2. Seeing how slow Josh recovered from surgery, and Roddy's "3 month injury" has turned into "no timetable"/ "not even close"/ "coach no longer wants to field question regarding Roddy" 5 months later not really.

I can't blame the mavs for losing tonight but if Caron Butler is out for the year then it's going to be tough. I think they would need to make a trade.
