This is a sad day. I finished the last two episodes of season 3 of The Wire. It is amazing TV. I don't know how they keep up with the TV that they've created over the first 3 seasons. I cannot imagine season 4 and 5 being as good as the first 3. It's truly a sad day. But I cannot wait to start season 4.

Damn, I don't know what I'm going to do when I finish this series. It has changed the way I view TV. Seriously, if you're ok with the shows you watch now, don't even start The Wire. They've ruined TV for me to an extent. It is truly that good. There are shows that I used to watch religiously that I can't even find the time to fit into my not so busy schedule simply because I know that they cannot come close to providing the type of entertainment that The Wire provides.

I lay awake at night thinking about the characters in the show... thinking about what must be going on in their heads.. thinking about the cases... thinking about what's coming next.

Stay away from this show. Do yourself a favor if you're happy with your normal TV shows. This is the best TV show ever created. It never lets up. Every episode fits into the series perfectly. You end up caring about what happens to each character. No, you don't like every character, but you're not supposed to. But even those that you don't 'like', you deeply care about what happens to their character and how it happens.

It is an amazing show.

Quantum of Solace.

This movie is getting bashed simply because it wasn't the typical Bond movie. It didn't have the grand plot like all the others do. It was an entertaining movie. Nothing great. Chris Nolan should take a good look at this movie though if he ever decides to make a 3rd Batman. If it's not as great as your last one, people will bash you for it.

I would argue that Casino Royale is the best Bond movie ever made.

I've never been able to sit through an entire Bond movie. I went to see one of them in the theatres about a decade ago... fell asleep.

One of my kids watched "Meet the Parents" - in "French" for an extra-credit French class assignment...meanwhile, my other son and I were busy flipping back and forth between Football, MIB and TLoR trilogy on TNT

I also got to watch the Christmas special for Monk and Psyche!!!

I am hoping to find some new DVD specials in the coming weeks so that I can stock up on recent movies that I have not actually seen.

I went to go see Four Christmases. I think i grew an ovary when i walked inside the theatre. All the trailers were gay. The movie was just decent. Reese Witherspoon is 10x the actor than everybody else in the movie combined.

My wife and I went to see our first movie in over and month and I somehow got roped into Four Chrstimases. Keep in mind, I don't automaically hate all chick flicks.

Having said that, it was awful. Just awful.

buying DVD's is getting ridiculously cheap now that they are pushing Blue-Ray down our throats. I got Mystic River for $2.00 at Wal-Mart.

Why the negative connotation in "pushing down our throats"?

Finally saw iron man (yes, I'm slow, I finally watched Finding Nemo last weekend).

Anyway, downey Jr. was great! He was also the best thing about Tropic Thunder.

True. I can't even think of the last time i bought a non blu-ray movie. If they really want to push it down our throat, they'd lower the movie prices by $7 dollars.

Watched "Carlie Wilson's War" last night...dang, how did that little gym slip past me until now? Hanks and Hoffman in top form crafting two genius characters. Even cow mouth isn't too bad.

Anyone going to see the new Punisher movie?
The first few trailers bored me, but then when the redband trailer was leaked, my intrest got peaked. http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/07/...ended-trailer/
Looks very grindhouse. Extremely violent and gory. Downright brutal looking.
Also the guy playing Castle looks more like the Punisher to me than Tom Jane and Dolph Lundgren.
If the script (written by the guys who wrote Iron Man)isn't complete crap it could turn out to be what a Punisher movie needed.

Cadillac Records. Go see it people. There were so many good performances. Jeffrey Wright=great. Mos Def=great. Adrian Brody=great. The best 1, and truly oscar-worthy, Columbus Short. Remember that name for years to come, he could be the next Denzel.

I thought Quantum of Solace was pretty dang good. These last two bond movies have been the first two I've ever really enjoyed. The Brosnan movies were stupid.

Goldeneye the game was ground breaking because it was the first playable first person shooter on a console.

But the movie sucked, as did all of the Brosnan movies because the guy is a ninnie and completely unbeleivable as a super-badass spy.

I wholeheartedly approved this message.

(I did not know that wholeheartedly is one word)

People think goldeneye is a better movie than it actually is because of the video game. To this day, I remember the plot of the movie just because of the game.

i'm not budging on goldeneye, but the other bronsan movies weren't good. the only one i even remotely enjoyed was The World is not Enough, that's because it had denise richards and sophia marceau.

Ah, who wouldn't enjoy a movie where Denise Richards plays a scientist named Christmas? (is there a roll-your-eyes smiley yet?)

Punisher: War Zone.

Pretty much what I expected, not a great movie, but a fun popcorn muncher.
If you are hoping for another Dark Knight, don't waste your money, but if you like a good, violent, no brainier go see it.

The script was well.....bad, fortunately there is not much of it to get in the way. The acting was very tounge in cheek, it seemed the people in this movie new it was crap but played it straight anyway. The guy from The Wire, (can't think of his name) was a passable villain. But this movie was not meant to be a deep thinker. It was almost more of a slasher film than anything else.

The best thing about it was every time a new set of Joel Shumacherish goons shows up, they are blown up just soon enough for you too forgive the goofiness. Imagine if you could take every bad character from Batman Forever, and Batman and Robin and shoot him in the face with a shotgun.
Lots of decapitations, arms and legs being blown off, and even a guy being blown to pieces with a rocket launcher.

I liked this movie, it wasn't high art, not even close. But it wasn't intended to be. If you have a buddy to wisecrack with and a few beers this is a great afternoon, if not wait for it on dvd.

Oh, and Ray Stevenson is a much better Punisher than Tom Jane!

I thought Quantum had a lot more depth than what critics and fans were saying. I enjoyed the movie and i even got confused a few times.

Dark Knight is in the DVD. I was hoping to get more special features...perhaps some tribute to Heath would've been cool.

Also watched "Wanted" - that was a waste of time!!!

Now I need to sort through movies at the theatre...we like to catch a movie on Christmas day, there is usually nobody in the theatre and it makes for a great escape after dealing with other family members...this is a tradition that my wife started and now we make it a yearly escape.

Any recommendations?
