Wow - Well, good for him. He wasn't going to get anywhere near that with the Mavs (this year). And, I bet he has a chance to be a starter in Portland with Batum gone.

Now... I'm anxious.

Because I always thought that if we didn't land a big fish, we would certainly then retain Aminu, Tyson, etc.

Hopefully Tyson waits a hot minute.

Again: With his improved three and great defense against multiple positions he is the new player type everyone is searching...the versatile 3&D.

They are going to get paid. Aminu as role player, Green as a starter (12) and Draymond as main player (max)

Again, the teams are allready pre-spending and giving out contracts based of the future gigantic cap numbers.

7-8m is the new 4-5m and in exactly this range i thought Aminu would end up...

No I wouldn't have. Just saying I was surprised at how fast it happened and that he must've called up and the mavs said no thanks to matching. 7.5m is crazy for a backup.

He may not be a backup in Portland. Probably another a big part of the pitch (as if that contract wasn't enough).

For a 6th man I don't think its that outrageous. He probably wouldn't have started but with Chandler Parsons injuries....I wouldn't rule out him starting some this year at the 3 but even if he didn't start he was going to be a 30 minute a night type guy.

Everyone talks about the salary cap increase and there's going to be some solid teams out there with guys like that on their salary.

Iguodala with the Warriors is one of those guys.

Yeah it is. But for his potential.....I would've paid it. Mavs are going to have a hard time trying to net free agents this offseason especially trying to sale players to come to this team when there's only 4 or 5 guys on it. I thought Aminu was a decent guy to sell to other free agents along with PArsons.

Portland, huh? Does a sign & trade for Matthews make sense here?

@ZachLowe_NBA: Look: I'm not in love with Aminu at that price. But if you're judging the deal by old $ standards, you're doing it wrong. All I'm saying.

@MarkDeeksNBA: @ZachLowe_NBA I'm working on a theory that's basically work out what someone should be worth, times it by 1.5, then add a bit.

I know the cap is going up, but that doesn't mean every bench player is going to be worth 7-12 million a year.

I love Aminu, but that is too much under any cap. I guess he can prove me wrong this season. Good luck!

In two years the cap is over 100m...you have 10 solid rotation guys....7m is then like 7% of the cap.

So yeah...pretty much every bench guy in the rotation is going to get paid like that.

Given the way he played "when it mattered" and that he was trending up, I would have paid him. There were many many times he outplayed Dirk and Parsons so there is plenty of minutes for him between the two spots. With his outside shot improving the way it did, it's hard to watch that kind of hustle and ability on both ends to walk out.

I would've too. 7.5 million a year is not that outrageous especially with some of these deals going out. I had no problem with this team paying him based on his play in the postseason and his potential.

I wanted Aminu back. I really liked him since 2012. His defense and improved offensive skills are going to be missed in Dallas.

Given that Shumpert signed a 4y/40M deal the Aminu deal was bargain for Portland.

4 for 30 mil is gonna look like a steal next off season cuz cap space gonna increase like 30 mil and its gonna look like a bigger steal in 2017 when cap space increases another 20 mil lol should have gave him that contract and im sure he would have stayed
