Default Dallas Had A Formula....... Then Lost It

It's crazy how a year ago, Dallas had one of the best offseasons in franchise history. Got Tyson Chandler in a trade from the Knicks, signed Chandler Parsons away from the Rockets, gave up Tadija Dragicevic (who is still playing overseas) to get Greg Smith from the Bulls, signed Al Farouq Aminu for CHEAP, and then months later in December, they got Rajon Rondo from the Celtics. Fast forward to now, Rondo left on bad terms (anyone remembers how Lamar Odom left), he is now with the Kings, Tyson signed with the Suns, Monta signed with the Pacers, Aminu signed with the TrailBlazers, and oh yeah, this dude name DeAndre Jordan just screwed Dallas by going back on his word, and resigning with the Clippers.

After the championship season, I felt Mark Cuban was chasing for a superstar. Dallas still had and has Dirk. They won their championship by doing the opposite of what Miami did. Dallas had their pitbull defenders in Jason Kidd, DeShawn Stevenson, Shawn Marion, Tyson Chandler, the shooters were Dirk, Peja, Terry, and Barea, Terry was a legit 6th man, and Dallas was big with their depth with Ian Mahinmi and Brendan Haywood. That was the Mavericks formula, and it worked.

Mark was thinking ahead a little too fast. he traded Corey Brewer and Rudy Fernandez to Denver to clear up cap space, sign and trade with Tyson to send him to the Knicks. 3 out of the last 4 summers, Dallas missed on their Plan A's. To make people understand better, Dallas wasted a draft pick on Lamar Odom, Oj Mayo left after a year, Dallas wasted a draft pick on Rondo, Monta leaves, Tyson leaves TWICE, and now DeAndre has burned the Dallas Mavericks organization and the fans. Who knows what would happened if Tyson would have stayed, instead of being on the Knicks, what if Lamar Odom actually wanted to be in Dallas? What if Rondo had his shit correct in Dallas? What if DeAndre actually lived up to his word and signed with Dallas? What if this is the price to pay for Dallas winning a championship?

We will never know. I'm just pissed at how everything went down. It goes to show you in life, things can change so fast within a year. I don't know what the Mavericks next step is, but it is going to be hard to make the playoffs this season, and probably some years to come, unless something GREAT happens for Dallas. It's just sad to see Dirk end his career like this. But I am still a Dallas Mavericks fan at heart. Unlike DeAndre Jordan, I have heart. GO MAVS.

Sad day in Mavs history right now. A lot of things have happened, and to me, it was a mistake to blow up the championship team. IMO, it's time to ask anyone in this organization if they want to be apart of the blow up of this team.

If guys want to move on, then trade them for pics. Fill out our roster with anything we can find and let the rookie just take his lumps. RC may want to move on, so be it. Dirk may want to retire or move on, so be it. It's time to look out for the Mavs future and not for individuals. Individual players will move on, but this organization will go on.

All we're looking for is the next Super Star in the draft.

Mavs best asset at this point is cap space. Cap space now and up to the trade deadline is their best friend. Between now and the deadline, the Mavs should maximize their cap space by taking on other team's junk, while picking up a pick or 2 to take out the so called trash.

It's funny. Whereas "Plan Powder" originally came from a quote about how "we're keeping in powder dry", the term may get redefined as signifying that we're blowing up the team.
