New thread on how much Dirk can pass Wilt. He can always be next to Jordan and top 5 on the NBA list.

Of course he has to pass him on the eve of ... christmas eve, when I'm busy preparing stuff in the time outs and left the room for too long between quarters and missed it.
So selfish...

Made the schlep to Brooklyn last night to give Dirk his due, and he so delivered--sole possession of 6th Place NBA All-Time Scoring and a game-winner in OT. Dirk got some applause from Nets fans during intros (at least no boos), and there was a smattering of scattered applause when he scored his 10th point, and everybody on the Mavs bench was congratulating him and high-fiving him when he came off the court, so they were totally aware. But the classless Nets organization made no mention whatsoever at any point in the game of the fact that Dirk Effin Nowitzki just became the Sixth Leading All-Time Scorer in NBA history. In fact, during the next time-out, instead of acknowledging that history had just been made, they played a commercial for New York Islanders tickets on the jumbotron. Bull-HOCKEY!
Glad I got to see it, but really wished it had happened at American Airlines Center, where he would've gotten a more deserving response. It almost makes me wonder if there's some (unwritten) protocol about not acknowledging milestones like that during the game. More likely the Nets are just dicks.
Mavs home crowd should erupt for Dirk during intros at the Bulls game. He is deserving of some hometown love.
Such a solid game from Dirk. He is playing so in-control, so economically, so opportunistically right now. Does not force a thing, and still produces solid numbers. Young began playing him physically last night, and Dirk gave a really subtle flail at just the right time to get a couple of FTs out of it, at a critical point in the game. The beautiful jumper, the clutch FTs, the game-winning lean-in when he got caught in the mismatch with Johnson.
Ugly game, if an interesting game. Mavs are playing off-kilter without Williams and Harris, but Barea pulled a magic rabbit game out of his 2011 playoffs hat, and it was enough against the hapless Nets. (The Russian just bought out the other partners in Nets' ownership, and the rest of the Barclay Center, and appears to be positioning to sell the team. Lionel Hollins deserves better, probably.)

I love how the Sixers had to take a timeout after Dirk drained that three for 29k... Historically nasty.

Such a gift to grow up watching this legend.
I feel for my son...what will the Mavs offer him as he grows up?

I'm wondering if Dirk will play well into his 40s. The unique combination of his skillset and size make it very possible imo.
Lack of athleticism has helped to preserve his body so he might continue to be very productive 5 years from now.

I don't think he holds on that long. I'd give him another 2 years.

I think 2 years..but 3 years would be awesome. He'd really move up the charts then.

Home for spring break and going to see the Mavs beat up on OKC tomorrow. If Dirk wants to throw it back to 2011 and drop 40 on them, that would be great.

I'm considering grabbing tickets to the Lakers hoping he might break 30k Tuesday. Might wait and see what he does tomorrow point wise.

He scored 13 points in 20 minutes played last time as the Mavericks blew out the Lakers 122-73. This season he has scored 20 points or more in 5 out of the 36 games he has played. Recently, he's been playing close to 30 minutes per game. I say there's a good chance he hits the plateau.
