Yep, gotta tank for sure. And yes, Ben Simmons is quite the talent.

It's not about Jordan being such a good player that he would save the team. Its the fact that we let everyone else go and planned the whole team around the thought that we had him.

ANyway, if he was going to say he was leaving, then who cares if he did it on friday or monday? He'd still be coming here. We just live in the real world of greed, click bait, and nonsense.

I respect that, but it wasn't just Deandre. It was a young core with a top-3 center in the league. It was Matthews, who will leave now. It's Parsons who won't be happy now. It's the 2016 draft pick that we gave to the Celtics. It's a game of dominoes and Jordan was the biggest piece.
So, no. Jordan wasn't a one-man all-in or all-out, but he was the domino that went from solid 20-something core of three star players in an attractive city of potential with another max contract next season to a team who will trade away all of its assets for nothing just so it can start rebuilding.
Jordan leaves? Matthews leaves. Both of them leave? Parsons wants out and Rick leaves for a contender. Suddenly Dallas has no buzz. No verve. It's not an exciting up-and-coming city anymore. It's just another sad rebuild.

We'll see what happens. I don't think he's coming here but the media hype and need to over report every little thing might be making this look worse than it is (and it's pretty bad).
Just saw this on twitter:
Long time NBA exec, on Clippers' 11th-hour lobbying of a committed FA: "This happens a lot. Only difference now is how public it's become."

What do you expect? He's the difference between making a run with a young core and dumping salary and starting the rebuilding process. Cuban already said he's look to tank and hit the lottery. Rick Carlisle said he'd leave if they rebuilt. It's not a small thing that our starting star center and centerpiece of the Matthews-Parsons-Jordan young core just up and left. It isn't one player that is leaving. It's potentially years of rebuilding in which we are a lottery team without a decent coach.
Losing Jordan (and yes, I'd assume he's already gone), means that we'll most likely lose Matthews, Rick, and potentially Parsons. We know we are losing Dirk to age as well.

I understand that aspect of it. But IMO, this organization has been putting a band aid over a gun shot wound for far too long now. This team should've been rebuilding 2 or 3 years ago. Or at the very least should've been developing young talent outside of their veteran core.
This team even with Deandre was far away from truly contending and the only help that seems to becoming is waiting for the cap to jump and try to add pieces or a piece in free agency next year. This free agency game is a never ending game.
I personally believe everyone is blowing this out of proportion and wouldn't be shocked if he does come back. But if the worst thing to come out of all this is this organization to rebuild and start taking the draft more seriously? I can't complain. But with the way this is going........we'd probably pick 8th next year and have to give our pick to the Celtics.

But they let all of those guys go prior to even knowing if Deandre would come or not.

@ESPNSteinLine: The team that wins this DeAndre race is going to have to tweet out a picture of a signed contact at this point to convince the masses

No question about it, but we couldn't, and you know why. Because we had a generational talent who happened to be one of the most loyal guys in the NBA. We just could not do it to Dirk, and I think we were all fine with it, even those who wanted a rebuild, like you, or like me. Dirk deserved to have a competitive team that either made the playoffs or was fighting for a playoff spot in each season. Anyway, I'm anxiously await what Dirk has to say about this if it indeed materializes the way I think most of us suspect at this moment.

Yeah I know and its easy for me to sit here and say we should've been more cut throat about it.......they should've let Dirk go to a contender. All Dirk has done is be apart of 1st round exits and promises of being active in free agency. Now he's at the end of his career and things look worse.
I understand being loyal to Dirk but it was to a fault in this situation.

I wouldn't fault Dirk at all for asking for a trade or retire. Not at all. He has to feel like he's wasted the end of his career these past 3 or 4 years.

Cubes already said it. He said we'd tank to get our "David Robinson" except we have to tank REALLY hard, because of we get the 8th pick, we give it to Boston for that waste of space, Rondo.

Actually hoping Matthews backed out. Without a center, this team is in no mans land. Not good enough to to make the playoffs but not bad enough to get the top 7 pick we need to hit it big in the lottery.
