Ok, not really but the Rangers have signed Doug Glanvile to be their 4th outfielder, and Ugeth(spl?) Urbina to be set-up man/closer.

actually, urbina is a very, very good signing..with no exceptions to recent memory, the rangers have not acquired a pitcher of his ability in years and years.
i think he had around 40 saves last year..with a ERA right about 3.00. He averaged WAY over a strikeout per inning and averaged way less than a hit per inning... the guy is perhaps the premier YOUNG closer in MLB |

Don't forget Esteban Yan. He was Tampa's closer and has a nc=ice set of pitches. A plus guy to set up Urbina and not have the stress of closing.

what will the rangers do? i have to believe that Cordero will do some of the closing..since he posted a sub 1.80 ERA last year (if memory serves me correctly)...cordero is the closer of the future..and i think he'll at least be the part time closer of the present

I figure they're just stockpiling dudes for the inevitable effects of whatever Rangers Curse there is this season. Cordero will slice off a finger opening a beer bottle, or Urbina will suddenly have severe spells of narcolepsy, causing him to doze between pitches.. it's the Rangers, man. Something weird will happen and I'll end up being the closer in '03.

Couldn't agree more about Cordero, i love that guys stuff. Assuming Cordero continues to develop, this could be a real nice bullpen next with the additions.
Just imagine if after the all star break if Zimmerman can come close to his 2001 form. |

Ya know, I could care less about our closer. Why? Because we will either be up 10 or down 10 in every game going into the ninth. There will be no save opportunities so gives a rat's ass?
