True, but since the late 90's the popular craze has been to produce crap. I feel as if lately I have been transplanted into "The Truman Show" in which audience members laugh repeatedly at my confusion and anger over the crap on my radio. I really need to get a cd player in my car or at least be able to pick up A.M stations.

Yesterday I was listening some music in a mall, asked for the CD and bought it. It's the "Shania Twain's Up" album. I liked it very much.
How is called this kind of music?

Very crossover country.
If you are not familiar with country music I believe there are one or two posters here that could help you out with their vast knowledge.

We have our own country music (several types, "norteño", "banda" and "Tex-Mex, for instance), but also have your country music, in english with the same rythm, instruments and voices.
I think the "crossover" word helped me a lot: Shania Twain´s music sounds like a very soft and modern country music; it seems "country" but it isn´t, it seems "pop" but it isn´t.
Maybe there is a proper name for this music. (I always listen it when visit El Paso, there are two or three good radio stations with these songs)

I don´t know Tejano. I know that Tex-Mex is a crossover ( tks SS) from a mexican music ("tropical" and some texan, similar to country. Maybe it's that one but I really don't know. Selena sang Tex-Mex, in fact she was "La Reyna del Tex-Mex", The Tex-Mex Queen, very popular in the States, mainly in Texas; Jennifer López made an american movie, in english, performing Selena, about five years ago (1997?). Selena was murdered by a female fan about 1994.
Wait! I just read this:
<< Selena In life, she was the queen of Tejano music >>
LOL. It seems Tex-Mex and Tejano is the same.
