Mejri's box score for that game:

24pts, 7reb, 3blk, 3stl, 1ast for a +20 +/-

He also shot 6/9 from two and 2/2 from three.

Did we just sign another three point specialist?

Maybe the thing I like most of what I see in youtube clips of Salah is his emotion. I want to see players fight, compete, and play with heart and he looks like he will do that. Glad to have him on the team.

2016 draft is looking to be a strong one. 26 players got a five star rating in early metrics--the highest rating possible.

May not be '84, '96, 98', or '03 but there are some special players in this draft

Is Mejri's contract guaranteed? Would want him to develop into somewhat a Rudy Gobert type.

EDIT: Holy shit, just found out he's 29

That's great. Too bad we traded our first round to the Celtics unless we are top 7.

Dwight Howard tries to bring a gun aboard an airplane

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13...-gun-carry-bag

Quote:
Dwight Howard was detained at the Houston Airport after TSA officials discovered a pistol in the bottom of a carry-on bag.

Howard told officials the gun was his and after being detained by law enforcement officials he was allowed to give the handgun to an associate.

The Houston District Attorney's office was contacted after Howard was detained and declined to press any criminal charges against him.

Guns are periodically found at both of Houston's main airports, Bush and William P. Hobby, and that few charges are filed or arrests made.

Just noticed that Caldwell Jones also has died, less than a year ago.

Caldwell Jones, Darryl Dawkins, and Moses Malone were the Sixers' starting centers from about 76-86, as I recall. Kind of eerie. Performing at that level over a long period of time has to take a physical toll. We think of pro athletes, particularly basketball players as being super physical specimens, but I am beginning to wonder if pro athletes may have shorter life spans than we mortals.

It's a scientific fact that big boys die earlier than smaller ones. Extreme physical conditioning can actually decrease that even more.

Perhaps, but if Harvey Catchings and Clement Johnson go down anytime soon, I'm calling conspiracy.

Tristan Thompson wanting a max contract. Harrison Barns (10.1ppg/5.5rpb) turning down $16 mill per year. Am I really missing something for these roll players?

I can at least somewhat understand Tristan Thompson who is a potential 10/10 big who can play center.

Barnes turning down 4/64 is lolerdz and a half.

Minnesota buying out Anthony Bennett. Apparently they couldn't find a taker that would even absorb him into cap space. What a disaster of a #1 pick.

I thought he looked like a competent rotational player with his play for Canada. 22 years old, 2 years younger than Powell, I'm sure plenty of teams will be willing to sign him cheap if he clears waivers.

In the "totally expected it to happen" file

Day one of Bulls practice, Derrick Rose walks onto the court healthy. Walks off injured with a broken orbital bone a la Rondo.

Someone probably didn't like his free agency talk or wanted to see him prove that he is as great as he says he is.

I think Rose knows that he can never live up to his own hype so he intentionally injures himself.

Wouldn't mind seeing Dallas pick him up. Maybe a 2 year deal with a team option?

Gery Woelfel: You knew this was inevitable: A source tells me a Western Conference team has had internal talks about possibly signing Larry Sanders.

Healthy, sane Sanders would immediately be far superior to McGee and all the rest of our stiffs at center.

That said, the kid is a nutcase. He has tremendous talent ,but just doesn't like playing the game. He'd make Dalembert's immaturity and poor conditioning look like child's play.

I would be 100% behind rolling the dice on Larry Sanders for a year or two. I do agree that he's a bit of a headcase, but with structure and the right veteran leadership, the dude could re-emerge as one of the single mmost destructive rim protectors in the league.

And if he's anywhere as good as he was during his couple of good years in Milwaukee, he's probably the second-most talented center the Mavs have ever had.
