Looks like Mike and the Wiz are planning to buy out the remaining years of Vaught's contract. The "Bring Vaught Back!" campaign will soon be underway

Injured Vaught Eyes Possibility of Buyout

OAKLAND, Calif., March 21 -- Washington Wizards forward Loy Vaught, one of five players acquired in the Feb. 22 trade with the Dallas Mavericks, said he and his representatives would consider options -- one being a buyout of the remaining two years of his contract -- that could result in his release after the season.

Vaught, 34, said his age and his ailing back, which had to be surgically repaired two years ago, limit his contribution to a team that could use his roster spot for a younger or more productive player. Vaught has not played in the past six games and has played a total of 32 minutes since coming to the Wizards.

"It might make sense for [the Wizards] to consider opening the lines of communication with me to find a solution," Vaught said. "I'll do whatever it takes to help the team and that may not necessarily be doing things on the court. If they're looking for some flexibility or something like that, I'm the type of guy who believes in keeping the lines of communication open."

Wizards President of Basketball Operations Michael Jordan said he did have a conversation with Vaught's attorneytoday but declined further comment.

Washington is in the midst of rebuilding and is trying to create room under the salary cap to lure free agents. If Vaught is willing to take a paycut in exchange for his release, the Wizards likely would entertain the idea.

Vaught would not elaborate, saying only that he would listen to any suggestions. Vaught said he would not retire because he did not want to forfeit all the money owed him.

"I don't want to get too far ahead at this point because there hasn't been too much dialogue," Vaught said. "At the same time, if I'm unable to do some things because of my age and because I have a severe back condition, maybe they would want to consider bringing in a guy they can work with."

Did you see the numbers Hubie and Courtney put up last night!?!?

Hubert Davis: 41 Minutes, 21 points (8-11FG, 5-6 three-point FG), 5 assists, 2 rebounds.

Courtney Alexander: 39 minutes, 26 points (10-20FG) and 6 steals!!!
