Walker must go
Right now with the Mavs team struggling mightly, I think we have to make a change. Although I would love to see a coaching change, I don't think that will happen until the end of the year as long as we're over .500 and in playoff contention, and I seriously hope that we don't fall out of playoff contention or under .500. So the next best thing is to trade Walker which probably needs to happen anyways. Walker appears to be a bad fit for this team. He seems to bog down the offense, and things only go well when he's hitting his 3pt shot, which is very seldom at shooting under 30%. At this point I'd be happy just to have him gone. Here we've mentioned several trades for him, here are some that I like:
Utah trades: SF Matt Harpring (16.2 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 2.0 apg in 36.6 minutes)
C Greg Ostertag (7.4 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31.0 minutes)
Utah receives: PF Antoine Walker (16.7 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 5.0 apg in 37.9 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -6.9 ppg, -7.1 rpg, and +1.0 apg.
Dallas trades: PF Antoine Walker (16.7 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 5.0 apg in 37.9 minutes)
Dallas receives: SF Matt Harpring (16.2 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31 games)
C Greg Ostertag (7.4 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 33 games)
Change in team outlook: +6.9 ppg, +7.1 rpg, and -1.0 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED
We get a big 5 to help now and next season get Harpring a very good 2 way player that isn't adverse to being a role player. Utah get's a scorer to replace Harpring and compensation of Ostertag who'll they'll likely lose to FA. Utah also gets the biggest talent, and an expiring contract if they don't like him.
Washington trades: PF Christian Laettner (6.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.1 apg in 23.1 minutes)
PF Kwame Brown (8.9 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.5 apg in 25.5 minutes)
PF Etan Thomas (8.4 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 1.3 apg in 25.8 minutes)
Washington receives: PF Antoine Walker (16.7 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 5.0 apg in 37.9 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -7.3 ppg, -9.5 rpg, and +0.1 apg.
Dallas trades: PF Antoine Walker (16.7 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 5.0 apg in 37.9 minutes)
Dallas receives: PF Christian Laettner (6.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.1 apg in 30 games)
PF Kwame Brown (8.9 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.5 apg in 35 games)
PF Etan Thomas (8.4 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 1.3 apg in 33 games)
Change in team outlook: +7.3 ppg, +9.5 rpg, and -0.1 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED
Dallas recieves 3 bigs that can be role players. Washingto dumps Brown and gets a superstar. Washington gets the biggest talent and an expiring contract to hunt FA's if they don't like him. I would rather have Haywood but his small salary makes trading him with Walker very hard.

RE:Walker must go
Honestly, I'd probably do all of those, I really like these the most, in order:
Utah deal- 1
Indy deal- 2
Denver deal- 3
Millauwkee deal- 4

RE:Walker must go
At least you acknowledge that Walker is "The Best Talent".
But seriously, those are all good trades. I'm not THAT blind.
However, I really believe Cubes will let Walker stay(at least till the end of this season) and then try to convince him to opt out and sign a lower-priced but longer-term deal. That's my gut feeling and no, it's not indigestion either.

RE:Walker must go
I like what we'd be getting in a number of those deals. Count me in on the Utah and Milwaukee trades for sure. Centers who can help us and a SF who can hit a jumper in both cases. That's exactly what we need.

RE: Walker must go
All of the trades are no brainers, but only the Cleveland and maybe New York trades are realistic.

The Harpring trade is interesting, LRB, but it can't happen now. I just read that he's having surgery and is gone for 3 months...sorry....I did like that one a lot.

OP I think that would be the only way the Utah does the trade. We have to take a player that's out to next season. Since I don't see us doing anything this year for me its not that big of a deal.

RE: Walker must go
I love the Denver trade. We get a backup point that pushes the ball and takes care of it and a big man who can rebound, block shots, and has enough offensive skill to make Nellie play him.

To me Al Harrington is a beast defensively and offensively. Scott Pollard is a great role player, who can clean the glass.

RE:Walker must go
I tend to agree about trading Walker for role-players. Walker is a great talent, but I'm beginning to become convinced that he is a poor fit here. He's taking too many shots from the more efficient shooters on the team, and although he is a good ball-handler, he's not as good as Nash and the offense suffers when he is directing it.
One more trade you might want to consider (although it's been brought up many times before) is to Atlanta for Ratliff, Dickau, and filler. Ratliff is at least a servicable center and a great shot-blocker. Walker has what Atlanta wants most: an expiring contract.
The thing that worries me is that Cuban seems incapable of making a trade that is not a blockbuster. When you look at the recent championship teams- the Lakers and Spurs- they put their teams together by judicious trades and free-agent signing in which they often gave up more talented players to get better chemistry and better role-players. The Lakers in particular, under Jerry West, gave up all-star caliber players in Van Exel and Eddie Jones for very little compensation in order to streamline the roster and assure that the ball was in the hands of their best players. I don't know if Cuban can make a trade that makes him look like he lost out on talent.

The last thing I want is for Walker to be traded to a desolate WASTELAND like Atlanta.
If you're gonna trade him, trade him to any other team BESIDES Craplanta.

I don't think we're worried about Walker and where he ends up.

That doesn't prevent him from being traded, we would just have to put him on the IR this year. If he wasn't hurt, I don't think we would have much of a chance of Utah doing the trade.

RE:Walker must go
I would do the Indiana trade in a minute.
I would do the Detroit trade too, but isn't something with Okur's contract at the end of this year that was similar to Gilbert Arenas' situation? Meaning that the Mavs could not resign him?
He would be AWESOME on the Mavs though.

I'm with you hitman..
Bring on either trade. It's what the Mav's need to become deeper with role players.

RE:Walker must go
I know this is all fun and games....no way Denver gives up anything for Walker
same for Utah, Indiana...Milwaukee...
Now maybe Chicago....but I doubt Skiles wants any part of that headache....
I'd take A Davis...and find a way to get the Junkyard dog thrown in
role players I'd take over Najera, Delk, Best, Fortson, Bradley
A Davis
D Davis
D Miles
J Williams (JYD)
Posey...I know he starts for Memphis so there's probably little chance
B Outlaw
R Evans
just to name a few....most of these guys can run....play physical around the bucket....score around the bucket....but they mainly D-E-F-E-N-D & rebound and do not need to be the "star" of the team....
