Yeah I would have liked Powell from them. He’d be a great THJ replacement.

Still Reddick is also a sharp shooter and a great vet

Shams Charania @ShamsCharania
now
Dallas has acquired New Orleans‘ JJ Redick, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Mavericks also acquire Trey Lyles from the Spurs in this multi-team deal.

Blazers just added a 20 point per game scorer to their squad.....very nice move to solidify that 3 spot for them.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Do I think the Mavs are being lowballed for their guys, or other teams don't value the Mavs' players like posters here do? Is that what you're asking? Because I thought the question was over the Mavs lowballing other teams, not the other way around.

Either way, what I think is basically that there are only a tiny handful of players that are or were actually available for trade, even fewer that would actually help the Mavs, and of that group- we're talking a number you can count on one hand- the Mavs simply don't have assets that other teams can't easily outbid. The thing teams seem to value way above everything else at the moment is precisely the one thing the Mavs don't have- first round picks.

The Fournier thing is weird and frustrating, but as you pointed out, it's more weird that there weren't a dozen teams offering a least a first round pick, so you can't really single out the Mavs.

I like Trey Lyles and JJ Reddick. I'm curious to see if they'd actually play Trey Lyles though since James Johnson can't get any playing time.

I love Reddick's court demeanor, attitude, and intensity. Hope it rubs off on a couple Mavs.

In addition, I would note that for whatever reason, teams really don't seem to give a crap about expiring contracts right now, and those were supposed to be our big trade chips going into this season.

No I'm not saying the Mavs are lowballing I'm asking are teams lowballing them for their talent? Is it that they want Kleber and DFS but they want to give us like a Brad Wanamaker in return? They like our guys but not enough to trade anything significant?

I would have much rather had the bigger Fournier.

This just has the makings of another disaster when teams throw out bigger wings and the Mavs counter with Brunson and Reddick to defend.

At this stage of his career I'm not sure he gives you anything more than Burke.

They just love these small guards and playing them together in tandem

I honestly have no idea. I haven't read any reports about other teams approaching the Mavs for trades, only the other way around. So, maybe?

Yeah I don't care what any one says.......that deal SUCKS. How in the hell do you get Oladipo for Kelly Olynyk and Avery Bradley? I'm sorry but something is not right the moves these teams are making and what we are ending up with. Mavs have to be intentionally settling for these low risk type deals.

Also, keep in mind that Oladipo has been very vocal for months now about the fact that he wants to play for Miami and nobody else. So it's not surprising that that Mavs- and everyone else- didn't offer more for him than Miami did, when he's UFA at the end of the season and has made it clear he's only going to be a rental for anyone other than the Heat.

I posted Donnie's comments in the trade thread

He literally said that the Mavs were content with their top 11 players and unless they could get a star player they weren't moving anyone

So basically Fournier and Oladipo wasn't better than anyone on the roster who he considers apart that top 11 I guess

People, Oladipo made it clear he's going to sign with Miami. If you're going to complain about the Mavs not getting him when the Heat got him for Bradley and Olynyk, please first ask yourself how come of the 28 other teams in the league, nobody else put up a better offer either. Is it JUST the Mavs who like their team so much????

seriously man are we really debating having Oladipo for half a season as opposed to keeping James freaking Johnson or Trey Burke?

How is Oladipo washed but JJ Reddick is a fit for the Mavs? That doesn't even make sense lol.

Dude, are you HIGH?????? You're gonna talk about me spinning things? How the hell do you frame this as James freaking Johnson or Trey Burke????

If the Mavs are so inept and incompetent for not getting Oladipo, will you fucking AT LEAST grant that the other 28 teams in the league are equally incompetent. Will you at least be consistent?

Takes 2 to make a trade. Mavs are generally very good with trades IMO. Not gonna criticize them over what they could have got or did get. I'll save the criticism for free agency where we are abject failures.

Because we need a three point specialist- which Redick still is-, not an inefficient volume scorer who can no longer defend. That's why.

EDIT: For the record, I am NOT arguing that Redick is a better player than Oladipo.

Mavs wouldn't have offered Tim Hardaway and a draft pick for Oladipo?

Wonder if we see anything in Melli or if he's just a throw-in?

Nothing wagered and potentially something gained.

I like Redick as a veteran who can be a flamethrower. His 3pt shooting is down this year, but also the spacing on the Pelicans is trash. Redick is a career 42% shooter.

At this stage of his career I'm not sure he gives you anything more than Burke.

They just love these small guards and playing them together in tandem
But, was there ever any chance of the Mavs getting Fournier?

Just want to take a min aside from Mavs to lol at the Rockets. Didn't they trade Lavert, who is on a friendly contract, for Oladpio who they have turned into Olynyk and Bradley?
