Default Fan Discussion Here

Here is a great topic for discussion...

What type of fan is the hardest to talk to when it comes to a discussion about there particular team.

Like for example...it's hard for me to talk with a Texas Longhorn fan about there team. All they want to talk about is there #1 recruting class every year and how they are gonna win a NC every stinking year but to only lose in the Holiday Bowl or how they get whipped every year against Oklahoma. (Which If I'm right, that statement right there will draw out all the Longhorn fans)

So here are my personal list.......

1) Yankee fans (MLB)
2) Longhorn Fans (NCAA)
3) Eagle fans (NFL)
4) Redskins fans (NFL)
5) Laker fans (NBA)

So what's your list? Anybody have any stories of fan of a team that just wouldn't get it?

My list starts with and ends with WHATEVER TEAM YOU ARE A FAN OF BESIDES THE MAVS!!!

Regarding what you just said... Oh my my my... Talk about blasphemy... You should be shot!!! This is longhorn country!!! How dare you say the things you just said... UT is BY FAR the best Texas football team, and is one of the best in the Nation. I certainly dont spew off ridiculous facts about how we ALWAYS have the best recruiting class, (though Brown is one of, if not the best, recruiters in the nation), or how we will always be the national champion... But I do know we are always in contention... And just because the team that SHOULD HAVE WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP beats us, does not mean UT is not one of the best out there... If we lose to the best, I can live with that... Its the Arkansas and small bowl losses that kill me... Not to hijack your thread with Longhorn data, but damn BB... You are on my naughty list after this one!!!

it's so hard to say this, because i just know i'm going to get crap from everyone about my team's collapse this year...

Longhorns fans can be pretty irrational. Most Longhorn fans I talk to are absolutely convinced EVERY YEAR that they are going to rip OU and win the national championship. It just hasn't been the case. I hope Mack Brown stays around though. His ineptitude has allowed Stoops to out-coach him repeatedly, and Stoops is starting to win the recruiting battle too. We have the two top Texas prospects in the nation now (#1 and #3 nationally), so I'm thinking that UT could be in even more trouble. Boomer Sooner!

You have to understand. Yes, some of us Longhorn fans really truly do believe every year that we are going to beat OU & win the championship & all will be right in the world. But I think most of us just kind of go along w/it, trying to be as optimistic as possible, & even though deep down in our hearts, we know we're not going to beat OU this year, & probably not next year, & probably not the year after that, we will never ever say it out loud. B/c someday, we will beat them & win the championship. Maybe not in my current lifetime, but someday. HOOK 'EM.

Back to your topic. I would say Laker fans. Completely irrational. Always an excuse. Annoying as hell.

great list nash13...

Dan--didn't mean to get on you bad list, just tried to bring up some good debate. I don't live to knock Longhorn fans a couple notches but sometimes they make it too easy. And by the way, I'm an Aggie

Well.... going off of experience on this board, there are two that seem to be difficult to reason with:

1. Quincy Carter fans
2. Antoine Walker fans

Fans of perrennially successful teams and/or teams with a dynastic history are notoriously bad. They think that it is their teams birthright to win every year and if they don't, then it was a conspiracy by the league to keep them down or some other tired excuse. These team's fans include:

1) Yankee fans
2) Cowboy fans
3) Laker fans
4) football fans of UT, OU, Florida State, Michigan, et al.

By the way my allegiances are with the: Cowboys, Mavericks, Longhorns, Stars and Rangers.

Good thread bb, and I know as a Longhorn fan, I'm being sucked in by your "good debate", however to put down the Longhorns for stating fact like having the best recruiting class and having a shot at the National Championship is just ridiculous. All fans will hang their hat on any success their team has had most recently. It would be just as ridiculous for me to say that all OU fans talk about is the Red River Shootout and the last 2 national championships they won. Of course you would bring that up as a Sooners fan and not for example bring up the fact that you got trounced by LSU. As a fan we all have optimism about our teams, and will find justification in any success they have had in the past. Honest analysis from a non-fan perspective is not always available on this forum, but it can be found from a few (i.e. ames7 just to name one).

This is my list:

King's fans (they deserve 2 spots on my list)
King's fans
Laker fans (they think that because of the history of the franchise that every other team are losers)
Quincy fans (they can't see any faults in his game, but the stats sheets can prove otherwise)
Sooner fans (they are just to big headed; at least most of them)

I'm right there with U2 and MFForever...the "QSpare Legion" and the "Toine crew of 1" are absolutely the worst.

Here are two more from Left field...

Barry Switzer fans (yes, I know that there are only 3 in the world)
Randy Galloway fans (basically just his local bartender)
