What does P.Diddy have to do with the Mavs?
I heard about this on the radio but couldn't find any articles on it. I hope it wasn't arleady posted because I didn't even bother to go to the 2nd page of this site assuming it would be on the first.
Mark Cuban said that design options for new alternative uniforms are being discussed. One of the consultants: Rapper P. Diddy. Why? "You never know," Cuban said. "It only takes one good idea to make something great." ...

Do you ever wonder if the Mavs have "jumped the shark"?

What does that mean?
I think they to bring P Diddy on board to add a "rep" to the unis. We'll have to wait to see what happens.

Q. What is jumping the shark?
A. It's a moment. A defining moment when you know that your favorite television program has reached its peak. That instant that you know from now on...it's all downhill. Some call it the climax. We call it "Jumping the Shark." From that moment on, the program will simply never be the same.
The term "jump the shark" was coined by my college roommate for 4 years, Sean J. Connolly, in Ann Arbor, Michigan back in 1985. This web site, book, film, and all other material surrounding shark jumping, are hereby dedicated to "the Colonel."
The aforementioned expression refers to the telltale sign of the demise of Happy Days, our favorite example, when Fonzie actually "jumped the shark." The rest is history.
Jumping the shark applies not only to TV, but also music, film, even everyday life. "Did you see her boyfriend? She definitely jumped the shark." You get the idea.
We have begun by chronicling the history of television. We are incorporating shows from the new season slowly but surely. Some shows are not listed...yet! We invite you to comment when any show jumped the shark.

RE:What does P.Diddy have to do with the Mavs?
I think that one night in the pillow talk, Cubes wife said, "Sweetheart, I just think those uni's are the ugliest things I have ever seen. Can you change them?" Mark gets out of bed and goes to the kitchen for a cold one and he finishes it off and throws away the bottle. He looks into the trash can and says, "Hey, those bags look great! Let's make a uni out of those." They didn't work and so to appease his wife, he calls up ol' Diddy and says, "Yo, P! You wanna design ma'boys threads and give them some bling?" Three weeks later the Mavs introduce their new uni's...Diamond encrusted trashbags.

RE: What does P.Diddy have to do with the Mavs?
Jumped the Shark is a term used to signify that something or someone has finaly fallen off of the map. It is a referance to an episode of Happy Days in which the Fonz jumped a live shark. This was widely known as the un-official ending of Happy days as we all knew it. And no, the Mavs have not jumped the shark.

Well, hopefully the P. Diddy uni will be able to move beyond the original design concept for the opening night unis...

If Diddy's clothing company Sean John can't get some cool looking uniforms for us, then there is no hope.

PDiddy sucks and his clothes are only exceeded in cheese by his crappy music. The trash bag uniforms looked like a Sean Jean design to me. Cuban is a dork.

RE: What does P.Diddy have to do with the Mavs?
Dallas Mavericks Say Diddy's Designing Their Duds
12.05.2003 7:55 PM EST
Jay-Z may rap about not wanting to wear jerseys anymore because he's over 30, but 30-plus P. Diddy doesn't think there's anything wrong with throwing on sporting garb, especially if he's the one designing it.
Diddy will design the Dallas Mavericks' alternate uniforms for the 2004-2005 season, representatives of the NBA team said Friday (December 5).
"The future is now," Mavericks merchandising director Tim Henning said from Dallas. "We think he's the perfect designer for this kind of project. He knows design, he knows what's happening in terms of what we think is street-credible. Nobody out there is as equipped as Puff — and Sean John, specifically — to take on a project like this. [People] are wearing uniforms as fashion, and who's the guy on top in urban fashion? P. Diddy."
The b-ballers will wear their alternate unis at least 12 times during the season but could sport them on the court more times than that.
Henning said the relationship between Diddy and the team began two years ago, when the hip-hop mogul befriended headline-making Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, but it was two weeks ago that the uniform idea really gathered steam.
"The relationship could develop into something more significant," Henning said. The two sides are talking about Diddy designing ancillary pieces to accompany the jerseys, such as shooting shirts and shorts. But first the jerseys are expected to be unveiled at the annual Magic fashion convention in February. The jerseys should be available in stores with other NBA attire next fall. Mavericks players will begin wearing their new gear in the 2004 preseason.
Henning clarified that the uniforms will not bear the Sean John clothing line logo because of Reebok's licensing deal with the NBA, but he said there'll be some element on the garments that identifies them as Sean John.
Neither Diddy nor his spokesperson at Bad Boy could be reached at press time, and Diddy's rep at Sean John said he hadn't heard about the Mavericks deal.

The sad thing is that those "trashbags" would be a major Improvement over those ugly Unis.
