Orlando Free agent Grant Hill has chosen the Phoenix Suns as his next destination.
In an exclusive interview with Basketball News' Jarrod Rudolph, Hill confided that he has decided to join Phoenix, and will be signing a new contract with the Suns on July 11th.
In a wide ranging interview that will be available in the next few hours, Hill discussed why he chose the Suns, and why he really did not give the Magic much consideration.
Hill is rumored to have agreed to a contract for the NBA minimum, just over $1 million for a player with his NBA experience.
Look for Jarrod's interview with Grant Hill and more as it develops.

Didn't the Mavs pay about 3 times as much for Doug Christie a couple years ago?

son of a bitch!

In the SOUTH FLORIDA SUN-SENTINEL, Brian Schmitz writes "Grant Hill has decided to sign with the Phoenix Suns to hopefully hitch a ride to an NBA title, leaving the Orlando Magic after seven injury-racked, mostly unfulfilled seasons. He will sign with the Suns for the $1.2 million veteran's exception, which is all Phoenix was willing to offer."

Wow, I hope we at least offered a little more than that and that he turned it down, because he's worth more than that.

The Mavs were never in the Grant Hill race in the first place.

The Mavs weren't in the Hill race because they aren't interested in him or because he's not interested in us? For the vet minimum I would've loved to get our hands on him. He still has some game left in him.

He would have been a great fit with Dallas because he's able to play backup 1, backup 2, and backup 3 for us. I don't know why he chose Phoenix, can he keep up with that style of play? He rested every third game this past season with Orlando, what is he going to do now? Not travel on away games ala Roger Clemens?

As long as he doesn't get hurt, he will be a good fit in Phx. He always get's hurt and his feet and ankles are really bad but he can still play. The problem he will most likely be hurt alot of next year. Phx will have a great record next year in the regular season but will get killed in the playoffs by the Spurs.
They haven't addressed the problems they have with the Spurs.

Honestly, at that price Grant Hill is a can't-miss player.. but you have to wonder if he'll fit in that system. They run an awful lot, especially considering how quickly Grant seemed to fatigue during this past season with the Magic (who weren't even flying down the court, by any means).

I would have loved to see him in a Mavs uni but I guess that's not going to happen. I'm concerned though that the Mavs are having trouble attracting those veteran guys for the mininum.

grant hill is a great player. When he's healthy. I know the suns are looking to cash in on his talent and a one season contract is fail safe. However, if he's injuries creep up, they are only hindering the development of their possible small forward james jones. I wish them good luck. Because my feelings are hill would have to replace him, and that would stop him for developing this season. And what about Diaw. will he and Barbosa be fighting for the Sixth? anyways who cares. D'antoni.. aka hitler look alike will deal with that.

Yep. James Jones sucked anyway. Hill is an improvement no matter what. The Suns really have not addressed any size though. They still match up well against us and now probably even a little better with Hill. However, like the above poster stated, how are they going to get past the Spurs??

Maybe if they can face up against them with a healthy / non-suspended Amare Stoudemire?

Yea I mean I think the Spurs still would've beat the Suns but I thought it would've taken atleast 7 games. I don't believe they're at the point where they need to worry about matching up with the Spurs because they can't. But at the same time I don't believe they're at the point where they go into next season believing they will be champs. They need a big who can play alongside Amare. Amare and KT were foul prone guarding Duncan. Not to mention the Suns can't stop penetration which gives Amare even more fouls.
