I'm pretty sure not all of the people in here even watched the Mavericks in 88. the only reason Maverick fans hate the Lakers is because of Kobe or without him there is no reason to hate them infact just about every fan base hates the Lakers because of Kobe. but the other poster had a point the Kings are more of a nemesis in the recent past then the Lakers. obviously i'm not gonna stop you guys from hating about a certain team but in my opinion there is no truth rival intense between the Lakers and Dallas there just isn't.

Whatever external reasons Mavs fans or anyone else may have against Kobe, there certainly are on-the-court reasons too. Of course there's that 62-point performance this year, but don't forget that game a few years ago when the Mavs blew a 28-point lead in the 4th quarter. I'm still reeling from that.
On the flip side, Dallas hasn't really done anything to LA yet.

We might be sore about a 62-point game from Kobe, but at least we didn't give up 81 last year...
I'd think our rivals are as follows:
Spurs
Heat
Suns
Kings
Lakers
I put the Spurs above the Heat because we still have to beat them to get to the Finals... Golden State might deserve a temporary spot on this list for beating us out in regular games last season & picking up Nellie in the offseason - we'll have to see what that means this year...

A lot of good that did him in the end, didn't it? The one who couldn't make one to save his life ended up with a ring for his troubles. Call it the curse of the Jet.
Jason Terry = Still Ringless, Still Worthless...Still an Atlanta-Hawk

Do you think Karl Malone wants the career of Antoine Walker just cause of the ring? I doubt it..
Jet is 10 times the player walker is, and that will never change.. regardless of how many rings walker doesnt actually contribute to getting (the count is 1 so far on that).

Why are we comparing JET to Antoine "Baby Face" Walker???
It's not like Walker did anything to win that ring for Miami (unless getting out of Wade's way counts as a contribution!) Whereas, the Mavs would have never sniffed the Finals if it weren't for Terry's help - it's not like Griffin was going to step up & sink one in Duncan's face at the buzzer...

Are You kidding? Malone would gladly give up all of his MVP trophies and stats for a Championship. Come on....
And Jet is 10 times the SHOOTER/SCORER that Walker is. That is a fact.
another fact : Walker....3rd Quarter....Game 6 of the Finals....14 and 11(I believe he scored 12 of those 14 in this quarter alone and pulled down 9 or 10 boards as well). In other words, Walker contributed to the Heat winning the title.

For a guy who was the 2ND LEADING SCORER IN THE PLAYOFFS for The Heat, that's hardly considered "not doing anything". Sorry, doggie...Try again.

Yeah, too bad he scored 37 points in the two games they lost to Dallas & 46 in four games they won - a real contribution!
Also, Walker scored 83 points in 6 games, whereas Wade scored 206... Oh, and JET (your favorite) scored 132...
I think you're lost - let me help: http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewforum.php?f=20

A contribution is a contribution, doggie. He is not expected to lead the Heat to a win...that's Wade and Shaq's job(and they couldn't do much of anything in the first two games....)

Your Point? Walker isn't the 1st or 2nd Option on this team...He's the 3rd(at Best) option and for him to be the 2nd Leading Scorer in the Entire Playoffs for this Heat team, it's pretty damn impressive, considering he doesn't take as many of the shots as he has in the past.

Well Jet is a much better player than Walker, and nobody here likes you. Not really sure why we are even discussing this.

Yeah, we should just ignore Tweeny-boy until Jan 21, then we'll throw a pie in his face while our team stomps his team.

Of course no one here likes me. If you can tell by now, my old nemesis DR. Bio, has had me on IGNORE(or is just ignoring me..whatever) for awhile now. And for that, I'm grateful.

And what makes you believe that there would be a repeat of last season's(REGULAR SEASON's, that is) debacle, eh? Miami has proven that they can beat the Mavs not only at home but on the road as well....they will be more confident(not overconfident, though) the next time they meet. Count on it.

He is very amusing. Anyone who can consistly come up with creative and humorous ways to back their favorite (subpar) player without being totally obnoxious is ok by me. Ape's humorous support of Bradley falls into this category.

(oh and Walker is not Better than Terry.....but he does have a Ring so I think between Terry being way better than Toine and walker having a Championship Ring, I think it's now officially a WASH between the two)

I'd put the two (Walker and Terry) pretty close to each other, value-wise. Generally you value size, which swings the needle toward Walker. Terry can score more, though. But he is terribly inconsistent, and he is probably even worse than Walker on the defensive end of the floor.
It would be a tough call to differentiate between the two. Especially given that they were more or less traded heads-up for each other.
