it's a great sound. their stuff sounds great acoustic, with the way they've arranged it.

Bought the Mat Kearney CD. i really like the title track ("Nothing left to lose").
he's a good singer, but he kind of does this half-rap style through some songs, which i don't like.

Jay-Z - Kingdom Come: Pretty weak album, though there are a few hot tracks, particularly the title track.
The Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury: Absolutely filthy. The Neptunes are at their best when working with Malice and Pusha. Hot album.
The Beatles - Love: I'm only about 1/4 through this thing, and I'm already in love. The remixes of Because and Eleanor Rigby are breathtaking. I just got to some awesome punched-up percussion on I Want to Hold Your Hand! This is awesome!

A friend sent me a text message informing me of this "badass, self aware rap album". I'm gonna have to pick this up.

good stuff! I'm a big fan of good acoustic music.
my new favorite for the moment is The Weepies. kind of depressing (as the name would suggest) but I like their sound. I'm having fun discovering new bands on myspace. I've become a bit addicted.

Yes. It gets points for making mashups "mainstream", and there are some really great tracks on it. However, I prefer the Black Album as far as what I'd rather listen to. I will say that the "Helter Skelter" version of "99 Problems" is almost equal to the original, and the original is an absolutely incredible track.

yeah that cd was amazing. Whats crazy is that it has been made into 3 very popular mash ups.(The Linkin Park one, the grey album, Black and Blue with Weezers Blue album)

You know, I couldn't understand Gone Away by Offspring very well, that is, I couldn't understand what he sung. I just read the lyrics..... and it is my favorite Offspring song ever. It's on loop.
Besides that, listening to Drowning Pool - Sinner. Great album.

Pink Nasty - Mold the Gold (Wow! I saw her at Wall of Sound '06 and enjoyed her set, but I had no idea she was this talented - good stuff!)
Otis Redding - The Soul Album (Surprise, surprise, another kick-ass soul album from Otis. He is now my favorite "before my time" artist.)
The Strokes - Room on Fire (An ex told me this wasn't nearly as good as their debut. She was wrong.)
The Streets - A Grand Don't Come for Free (It took a while, even though I found it catchy from the get-go. Now, I love it. Great stories and unique delivery.)
Baboon - Baboon (Local boys shift from anthemic, punk/noise rock to indie pop rock. It's good- who would've thought they'd last this long?)
Devendra Banhart - Cripple Crow (A lot more fun than I was expecting. I like this breed of folk rock.)
RJD2 - Dead Ringer (Got this and a DJ Shadow album recently - this is my preference at the moment. Solid all the way thru.)
The Stooges - self-titled (first Stooges album. So far, so good.)
The Baptist Generals - No Silver/No Gold (Where the hell was I when this came out? A local album, on Sub Pop no less!? They're good, kinda Neutral Milk Hotel-ish. Can't wait to see them progress.)

Strokes - Yeah, she was.
The Streets - What an awesome album! "Dry Your Eyes" is one of the most heartbreaking songs I've ever heard. Love the story of the album.
RJD2 - His best work, and I've enjoyed his stuff much more consistently than DJ Shadow's.
Baptist Generals - Never heard of this, but NMH is amazing, so I'll have to check it out.
Me, I've been listening to so much stuff lately. Let's see:
The Elected - Sun, Sun, Sun
Ghostface Killah - More Fish
Broken Social Scene - s/t & You Forgot It In People
The Sleepy Jackson - Lovers
Mos Def - True Magic
The Buzzcocks - Singles Going Steady
Nas - Hip-Hop is Dead
My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade
Sunset Rubdown - Shut Up, I Am Dreaming
Ol' Dirty Bastard - Return to the 36 Chambers
The Hold Steady - Boys and Girls in America
Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings The Flood
Destroyer - Destroyer's Rubies

Lord Willin was getting constant play in my car when it was released, I might have to pop that one back into the cd player. But the new Hell Hath no Fury didnt live up to the hype for me.
Young Jeezy - The Inspiration is getting the most play in my car.

Red Monroe - Red Monroe (another local band from Dallas, VERY solid - a bit of a surprise, really. Sounds kinda like Arcade Fire and maybe some Bloc Party too, but with BALLS. Promising, indeed.)
Cartright - A Tall Tale Comes of Age (former Denton, now Austin-based band sound like old school centro-matic after a little drinking and a lot of smoking. I like it, particularly the last song - Sailor Song ("She broke my wrists, but I'm still making fists!" - good stuff.)
Bosque Brown plays Mara Lee Miller (stage name - Bosque Brown, real name - Mara Lee Miller. Yet ANOTHER local artist (grew up in Stephenville), she gave Damien Jurado a demo of some of her songs, and he promptly invited her to Seattle to record an album (before ever performing live) with Pedro the Lion's David Bazan. The result is an album of good, Texas folk. She has a delicate, southern voice and rarely uses much instrumentation - most songs are just her and a guitar, and all of them are solid. It's beautiful music, and I hope people begin to notice her.)
