35 points total, 31 points in the 2nd half, 21 in the 4th quarter...

I wasn't able to watch the first half. The hell happened to Dirk there? He really needs to stop taking off full halves at a time.

Houston wasting another year instead of blowing it up. Well done Morey and Alexander, haha.

Now the Mavs can kick GS ass on Friday and then start resting for the playoffs.

Carter and Terry took over in the first half - Dirk let them do their thing...

He's doing a bit of a Tim Duncan circa the past 3-4 seasons, to my eyes.
(To be clear: That's not a slight. I think it's fairly smart.)

Great 4th quarter by the Mavs there. Hmm, interesting that Wright played the whole quarter and we pull out the game. He altered a lot of shots, set great screens, had the Mavs' only block, 5 rebounds(three offensive). Not sure why RC waits until late in the game and we are losing to let Wright play.

Tonight I witnessed some of that 4th-quarter swag from the Mavs that always seems to give me a boner.
No but really, this was some of that 4th-quarter mojo that the Mavs showed game after game last year in the playoffs.
Not a bad time to start getting some of that back, yea?

Poor Carter...almost felt like "the man" again. Until the 4th...
s*t happens if you play with Dirk.

There is zero reason to give Ian playing time over Wright. I can see it with Haywood against the few really big guys like Bynum but otherwise...no

Rick is trying some stuff out - it's not like he's an idiot one game and then a genius the next... He's mixing different lineups to see who can do what at this point in the season.

Carter knows his role, and at this rate he's going to be an effective early scoring spark in the playoffs.

Vince Carter and Brandan Wright kept the mavs in this game. Changed the whole momentum of the game going into the 4th quarter.

Sorry, but IMO it's a little late in the season for that. Anybody can see that Wright is a much better all around basketball player than Ian or Haywood. And there are very few games in which I think RC is a genius. I do think RC's best and smartest coaching moves are his usage of time outs, which is excellent. Like I've said before, the only team I'd not start Wright would be vs the Lakers.

Offensive Efficiency of #Mavs 4th quarter (187.21) is the best by any team this season for 4Qs.
#Mavs also own 2nd worst (33.62), opening night vs. #Heat. If that's our progress over the season, I'll take it.

The Rockets, whose playoff hopes took a huge hit, were done in by three of the league’s most prolific fourth-quarter scorers over the last decade and change. Among active players, Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Terry and Vince Carter are in a class with Kobe Bryant in terms of points scored in the fourth quarter.
Nowitzki and Terry have been the Mavs’ co-closers for years. They went to work again with the Mavs’ season on the line. Nowitzki scored 21 of his game-high 35 points in the fourth. Terry had six of his 19 points, plus a pair of assists.
Carter, a newcomer to the Mavs’ roster this season, is a recent addition to Dallas’ closing committee. He scored a season-high 23 points in the game, carrying the Mavs in the early going and capping it with seven points in the fourth.
Add it all up, and the Mavs' trio outscored Houston's team by a 34-26 margin in the fourth to pull out a 117-110 win.

Thanks for this stat. The offense was really good in the 4th quarter. I mentioned it in the GDT. I really liked that lineup because there is a lot of offense and pretty good team defense.

Yeah too bad Carlisle already said he figured out the playoff lineup about 2-3 weeks ago.

he had 7pts and 2 assists in the 4th quarter. Considering his role on this team, it is pretty good.
And his putback dunk actually sparked the team

Hey, about Sat. night vs the Bulls. The Bulls currently sit atop the EC with a 2.5 game lead. If they have the #1 seed locked up by then, do you think they will play everybody for the win? And if they don't, how might our situation affect our lineups? We may be in a position to try to choose our first round opponent.

The Bulls bench is pretty good. If Mavs beat GS (Kidd might not play), the Mavs might be playing their bench as well.

Yeah, as of now, we face the Flakers in round one. Ouch. I might be strongly tempted to try to alter that. I think my top pick of the three teams at the top for our first round opponent is OKC. I just think we can take them when it comes down to it.

Oh, that's true, didn't notice they are tied with LA. I think we can take the Clips also.

I am not so sure about that. People are overplaying the "experience" beats youth myth. The Clips having an experience PG running their team. Thy also have Paul, Mo Williams, Martin, and Butler who all have gone deep into the post season. The Clippers have battered the Mavs on the boards this season and with the Mavs defense designed to collapse in post, it could be a short series for the Mavs.
The OKC matchup might be the best. The OKC train seems to be wearing down and they don't really have a low post presence.

I'd still prefer the Clips over LA, but I agree my top choice would be OKC.

Chris Paul has gone deep into the playoffs? Caron Butler has gone deep into the playoffs not wearing a suit on the sidelines?

How much rest do you think you'd give the rotation players? The team chemistry is picking up, the offense is looking better and better, and there is something like 4 or 5 days between the Bulls and the Hawks game. I'd consider keeping them sharp and playing the current rotations. Maybe cut down the minutes a bit, but not much.
