FWIW, teams generally view a #1 next year like a #2 this year.
It's a much nicer looking thing than the Julius Jones/Spears parlay because of how bad Cleveland might be. Then again, I remember thinking the Bills were going to be worse than they ended up being...

I would have still done it if it was this years 3 as originally reported. We could have the first pick in the draft next year.

Yeah, but that first rounder next year could be a top 5 pick. Hell, with as bad as the Browns are, that may be the top pick in the draft. They still have no receivers or a running back so they aren't turning around that quickly. And their second that we just obtained is an early second. This is a really good trade for Dallas, even though it won't pay off until next year.

I know. I love it. Particularly since this may FORCE us into getting a guy like Blaylock (hope, hope) rather than a safety or corner or a receiver who may not have panned out.

Holy hell, that's a freaking steal of a trade, barring a miraculous turnaround by Cleveland.

I think this will be an even better trade. The Bills turned into a pretty good team the next year. I don't see that happening to Cleveland next year.

Boy, Reggie Nelson better pan out for Jax (assuming they were offered the same deal by Cleveland).

Originally, when I thoguht it was a three, I wasn't nearly as thrilled.. thought it was a good trade but not brilliant.. but, getting a two out of it is nothing short of sheer greatness. They should still be able to draft a 1st round calibre receiver...

It seems like the Cowboys are the only good thing going in metroplex sports this weekend.

The Ticket is saying the Cowboys phone is ringing off the hook right now. Possibilty of the Cowboys trading up to the tail end of the first round? Personally, I think I'm fine with the 36th pick right now.

I like the idea of moving up a few spaces if they have a clear favorite or if all their favorite guys start disappearing. Give a fifth and a sixth to move up a few spots, maybe.

if the chiefs offered this deal to any of the last 5 or so picks they were idiots for passing it up. if they didnt i would like to say thank you for helping the cowboys.

George Dunham just reported that they've received word that the Cowboys are working hard to get back into the first round.

im thrilled with the trading day so far. dont get stupid and give anything back. i honestly prefer jarrett to meachem anyway so id prefer to just stay where we are. if we get lucky we could get grubbs or blalock AND jarrett. that would be the perfect draft.

I actually think it was probably a win-win trade. Cleveland got a QB that they believed was a top 5 pick in value... and they got the selection that they had already made. Not a bad deal for them.

I gagree. Especially since Cleveland moved up to get a QB, which in effect shortened the franchise's development time by one year. (As opposed to drafting a franchise QB with that #1 next year.)

the problem is its fairly clear that the rest of the league doesnt view him as a franchise qb. (not that they should make their decisions based on what others view him as)
i am so freakin excited right now

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking. For a team that really needs a QB, this trade isn't bad if they feel Brady is the real deal.

Imagine if we didn't have Romo in place. Boy, don't you know WE would have been the ones moving up as Quinn began to slide?
Thank God for Tony Romo.

Great deal by the Cowboys. What are the chances of the Browns being a playoff team next year with a rookie starting qb, rookie offensive tackle and two young prospects in Winslow and Braylan? Especally in the division there in. I'm a little shocked the Cowboys got so much. I thought at most we could get this year's 2nd and 3rd but never I would've thought next years 1st. No way in hell you can pass that up. I know the Chiefs feel like shit.
