Mavs are finally starting to make chicken salad out of chicket sh*t. And amazingly it does taste good.

Did the Pacers need a center that badly? Did Hibbert end up in Portland?

I think Mahinmi got a very fair deal.

I agree. That is just what centers make.
We did get younger and I like that a lot.

So it looks like both are on expiring deals with Dahntay at 2.9 and Darren at 2.3
Very nice move.

This is too many moves to keep track of and process... my brain is still set in single-massive-gamble-that-falls-short mode. Help!

Huge fan of Darren. But I am sick of rooting for one year teams. Teams need time to develop chemistry. Didn't the mavs learn that lesson years ago?

I will say that Deron at 10x the price would have been nice BUT getting Collison for 10X less than Deron is pretty darn cool.

Collison, Dahntay and Marion handling the perimeter D will be nice to see

Really like the move. In three straight moves today the Mavericks just reinstated my faith in the 2012-2013 season. Although as others have said the one year deals are a little bit concerning because they will be gunning for another home run off season in 2013.
Either way, they get younger and more athletic and that is fine by me. Looking like a 4 or 5 seed at this rate, and if RC can get these guys to mesh well they could make some noise in the West. I'm just glad we all get a fun team to watch next year.

This is a fantastic move. And let's all please remember that the Mavs just turned a Spurs castoff from two summers ago into Darren Collison.
This front office is not perfect, but it's good.

Yeah, Collison's a restricted free agent next summer. He could easily be part of the future if they want him to be.

@chadfordinsider - Did the Pacers just trade a young, starting PG who led team in playoff PER for the right to pay a back-up center $16M?
Yes they did Chad. Yes they did.

Wow, this one came out of nowhere. Liked Collison a couple years ago, though I haven't followed him much recently. Not very familiar with Jones' game. But getting a young PG and a SG, each on expiring deals? Win.

Anyone watch enough Indiana to know if there is good reason why DC's minutes have been going up and his production has been going down since his rookie year?

I hope they do - I think constant resets can be a big disadvantage. Nice to have the option, especially with a guy like collison whose stats have dwindled over the last two years.

What? His second season was better than his first, and his third was during a lockout-shortened season where pretty much everyone in the league's numbers dropped... This is a good point in his career to take that next step forward.

Dahntay Jones is almost like another Stevenson...I still remember Jones from that Nuggets vs Mavs series back in 09 and was one of the reasons Terry was a no show.

Kaman move was decent. This move is fantastic. Really impressed. Collison is very good for his pay.

Decreases in PER, Assists, and 3PT% give me pause.
Still a solid pickup, and these decreases may not even be his "fault," so that's why I'm asking if anyone who watches the Pacers regularly can add context.
