Not Josh fault Mavs blew the draft. I think it's funny on a fan forum that people act like we must make constructive arguments as if we have control over the future maneuvers of the team. It's called venting... Luka's Mavs career was likely determined by the inflection point that was the 2020 draft. We have several players that went after him that are growing into 20 ppg scorers and we collectively act like Josh is a child learning to take his first steps when he scores 10 points in a game. Pointing my guns at front office. They knew from 2018 what they had and haven't done a thing to add the pieces necessary to grow a core to the championship. Problem is there isn't a thing they can do about it now as there is basically no hope in the foreseeable future other than Luka having a post season for the ages where he averages 45 ppg and wills the team to the finals. Desmond Bane who many in the local sports radio media were almost certain the Mavs were going to take as he was right there in the FO back yard has grown into a borderline all star player in his 3rd season at 25 ppg on a team that has a 30 ppg scorer in Ja. The Luka/Bane combo would have been even better than the Ja/Bane which is the best backcourt combo in league already. Venting.. I will leave it for you smart people to come up with a solution and then ensure the FO listens to the collective wisdom of this board.

It?s criminal how they?ve handled acquiring or obtaining talent to surround around Luka.

We have the best player in basketball, a true generational hall of fame once in a lifetime talent and they?ve blown it. They?ve surrounded him with one dimensional role players and journeymen his entire Mavs career.

It?s on par or maybe even worse than what the Cavs did with a young LeBron.

But the worst part is they seem to double down on this every summer. Like, they did absolutely nothing to get another ball handler. SO many fans (ones I've even long known well) shot me down like well plenty of time left to do something. NOPE. Do they even care? Does Luka not want another handler? It's so obvious that it gives me a headache.

Dragic and DSJ were soooo easy to acquire that the towel guy coulda closed those deals.

I didn't hear any local sports media talking Bane up at 18. Someone probably floated it, but vast majority would have taken Bey. I know I would have taken Bane over anyone else avail because I watched every single TCU game and even said as much.

I completely agree that Bane would have been a sick combo to pair with Luka and FO fuct up.

However, Green has been better and it was always known that he would take more time than some other guys. He hasn't sparked as soon as I hoped, but he is coming around.

Green has grown into a solid contributor this year. I have changed my mind based on what I have seen that he will have a 7 to 10 year plus year career in NBA as a solid role player/hustling journeyman. Coming into the season I would have placed money on out of league after next year.
