Well, let me help you. You suggested that a GM would tell the media that he was looking to trade a player in order to court more suitors. I suggest that that strategy creates more problems due to pissing off the player and thereby putting the franchise in a position where they now HAVE to deal the player, other teams know this, and will, in turn, lowball the franchise that is looking to trade the player. In business, desperation is not a particularly effective negotiating strategy.
Outside of situations where a player is going to walk, and leave his current team with nothing, it is rare for a GM to tell the media that he is shopping a player. And being that Rondo is under contract for the next two seasons, I fail to see the logic or benefit of negotiating via the media.
If you have examples of your strategy being implemented effectively, please elaborate.
If that's too hard to comprehend, I hope that someone is hiding your keys from you right now for your own safety.
