Too soon. We are all basking in the glory of tonight's win at the moment. So, I'll let the reality set in before I make up mind about the 1st round series

If the Mavs team we saw tonight shows up... and the Spurs are without Ginobli...
Mavs in 6.
Can't believe I'm saying that. Where did this team come from?

Spurs in 6. I love the way the Mavs are playing but the Spurs have revenge in mind after 2006.
It's a matchup that favors the Mavs though and they know they can win in SA too.

Wouldn't they have had revenge on their minds last year against the Lakers for the .4 shot?

Mavs in 6.
Obviously, to do this we gotta get a road win. Once that happens, the playoff mojo that this team lost in Miami will finally be found. I believe returning to the scene of the greatest road victory in Maverick playoff history is a good thing. Don't take this as a slight to the Spurs. Far from it--Pop and the boys know how to win playoff games, whether they have Manu or not. So the Mavs are going to have to hit on all cylinders to do this. But a match-up with San Antonio certainly conjures up memories of fantastic playoff performances by the Mavs during a time when they feared no one--at home or on the road.
Let's Go Mavs!!!

Mavs in 7, epic battle... probably the most intense of all first round matchups. If it could be half as amazing as our WCF series then I'll be happy.

I said Mavs in 6, but I am so uncertain as to who is gonna win this series!
Some factors to consider
Home court-Favors the Spurs of course. The Mavs are 35-47 in the last 2 years on the road. Ever since the whistles robbed us of a championship the road psyche has been destroyed. 0-6 v Warriors/Hornets on road, with 4 of those losses on double digits. The Mavs who could win a Game 7 @ San Antonio, Win 2 games in Houston when down 2-0, eliminate Suns on their home court, etc, vanished when the whistles decided Wade was marketable
Parker-I dunno if there's anything we can do to stop him.
Duncan's tendenosis- If it's bothering him it'll be a huge boost for Dallas
Jump shots- At the end of the day, our guys gotta make their shots. The Spurs themselves are a solid 3-PT shooting team but dipped a little after the All Star break.
Dirk-Their big man are incapable of bothering Dirk IMO.
Talent-It really does seem on paper the Mavs are more talented than a Manuless Spurs team. 4 of the 6 best players in the series are Mavs IMO. The only equalizers are the home court advantage for the Spurs, and Parker happening to be the one achilles heel of the Mavs defense all year, lightning quick PG's. Furthermore the Spurs are well coached and execute well, which is why they're 54-28 despite an injury plagued season.
Should be a good series. Hope the Mavs don't break our hearts.

The mavs just need to make shots and win a series they're suppose to win.

Somehow I find myself having confidence in Carlisle to come up with ideas to keep Parker to 25 points per game in this series which should be good enough for the Mavs to steal games in SA.

Parker and Dirk are both going to light up the scoreboard and will basically cancel each other out. IMO the series comes down to how Duncan feels, whether or not the Spurs can find some consistency on defense, whether or not Jason Kidd can knock down jump shots and how good a job the Mavs do closing out on San Antonio's 3 point shooters.

This won't be as easy as some of you are predicting. Spurs play on a whole another level in the playoffs, and the Mavs are not the road team they used to. Also keep in mind that all our recent success has been at home (wins against Phoenix, Utah, New Orleans, Houston were all at home), with the loss in New Orleans. I'll say the Mavs win all their home games, so SA in 7. I'd love to be wrong though

I'm predicting that the Lakers are the only team in the West that win a road game.
Therefore, sadly, I must go with Spurs in 7.

I am hoping that the Mavs team we see in the playoffs will be the Mavs team we have seen of late. If they play with that energy and that desire there will be two teams with a road win. I say Mavs in seven!!

Parker and Dirk will cancel each other out because there are no answers for them.
Terry/Mason matchup might be the one to watch for. Both are very capable of going on scoring sprees and have a reputation for big shots down the stretch.
Damp usually plays Duncan well in the post so it'll be interesting to see if Pop uses him at the elbow or top of the key more. Bonner will draw Dirk outside so that would leave the lane open for Parker to work. Or some cuts for Finley and Mason.
Spurs really don't have an answer for Howard either. I assume Finley will start on him with Bowen and Udoka getting turns as well.
Kidd should be able to post Parker up so do the Spurs let him abuse that matchup or do they risk the chance of doubling and leaving the outside shooters open?
Should make for a good series.

If Mavs played like last night and Spurs have no Manu... why wouldn't it be Mavs in 4?

Very true...... but when's the last time you saw anything resembling consistency from these Mavs?
They could get blown out by 50 points in Game 1 and still come back to win the series in 5 (or vice-versa...)

They beat us 93-76 and they were without Manu and Duncan. They held Dirk to 14 in 40 minutes.
This is going to be insanely hard.

That game was just not one of our nights. everyone was off thier game. It happens. However while I don't think it will be easy, SA did kind of stuble into the playoffs. The Mavs haven't played better all year.
