Players Named For Vince Carter Charity All-Star Game

(TORONTO, July 16, 2001) --- Vince Carter announced Monday a preliminary list of NBA players set to hit the hardwood at Air Canada Centre on August 3 at 7:30 p.m. for the country's first charity all-star basketball game, presented by Air Canada and sponsored by Sears and Solo by Bell Mobility. Some of the brightest stars in basketball are lending their time to raise funds for local Toronto children's charities. Those who have already committed to participate include:

Alonzo Mourning, Miami Heat
Chris Webber, Sacramento Kings
Elton Brand, Los Angeles Clippers
Jerome "Junk Yard Dog" Williams, Toronto Raptors
Michael Finley, Dallas Mavericks
Antawn Jamison, Golden State Warriors
Morris Peterson, Toronto Raptors

"This will be a great chance to play for fun with all of these guys that I would normally compete against," said Carter. "The fans are in for a good time. Charity games are a totally different experience. This won't be the type of basketball that you'd see in a regular NBA game!"

The Vince Carter Charity All-Star Game is part of Carter's first-ever Summer Jam, a week-long series of events taking place in Toronto that includes a basketball camp for kids, a luxury basketball camp for adults and a golf tournament. The Summer Jam is expected to raise $350,000 for the Raptors Foundation and Vince Carter's Embassy of Hope Foundation to benefit Toronto children's charities. For more information the public may call 416-815-VC15 (8215).

Tickets for the charity game start at $14 and are available through TicketMaster, 416-872-5000, or online. With the purchase of a ticket, fans automatically have a chance to win a collectible print of the game logo autographed by Vince Carter.
