Pretty self-explanatory.

They definately have some glaring weaknesses.

They are a two man show, with nothing else. PG - below average. PF - below average, and the "other swingman" is below average.

Playing with Charlie Ward as the starting PG is like playing with Vinny Testaverde at QB--you're not playing to win, you're playing not to lose.

Barkley made one of his most sensible observations ever in pointing out that the Rox need a PG who can create and penetrate a little bit. Wouldn't even have to be a top-tier guy, just someone who could get the ball to Yao and T-Mac in position to score.

JVG did a great job focusing and molding this team into a defensive-minded club, but now he has enough talent to be able to play for a win, instead of playing for a CHANCE to win. He needs to loosen things up just s a little so his team can get some easier offense, and not have to work so hard on every possession at both ends of the floor. Otherwise they'll be burned out and ground into dust in about 2 years.

Evolve, JVG.......EVOLVE!

Good thing for the Rockets is that they'll be in prime position to pick the best point guard in next years draft!

Hah.. I remember all of those people who thought McGrady would get less selfish with Yao on his team...

Yao is playing mediocre ball for a guy as big and talented as he is.. but I get the impression his growth is being stunted by McGrady's selfishness.

am i missing something or are you all forgetting that bobby sura is out with an injury..he nearly had back to back to back triple doubles last year

he is their starting point guard..give them time and they'll be much better by the all star break

i think when sura comes back, they will be A LOT better. they will benefit from having a big guard that can handle the ball.

Counting on Bob Sura, though he is a very nice player, to make your team better is like panning for fool's gold. If he makes your team better then you have real problems. He is a nice role player and has lots of skill, but he is a far cry from a player that means the difference between winning 40 and winning 50 games.

What I found to be the worst aspect of the rockets game is that they very seldom throw the ball into Ming so that he can pass the ball out of a double team or score when the double is slow to develop or he's single covered. There seems to be no teamwork with this offense and the passing is very, very bad. They gave the Knicks game away by committing horrible turnovers towards the end of the game.

I don't think ball-handling is Houston's problem. The Rockets basically has no solid game plan, ball movement is bad, they don't give Yao the ball often enough, and way, way too many difficult jump-shots.

Having Sura will improve the ball movement... but will that make them A LOT better? That depends on how you define A LOT. Win extra 10 games? Sure. Become a 45-50 win team? No way.

edit: spelling

I'm still a Rockets fan all the way, but man, the PG position is terrible. Hopefully w/ Sura coming back, it might help a little. There were some strong rumors before the season started that we would be going after Antonio Daniels. The PF position is still up in the air, but it seems to be working out ok. The rest of the team is fine, but it's just a chemistry issue right now. I'm not giving up on this squad.

ok, maybe i shouldn't have capitalized A LOT. but they look so bad now, "A LOT" could mean 30 wins.
