Alan Henderson

Alan Henderson, an 11-year veteran NBA player, was arraigned Sunday on charges stemming from his allegedly having an illegal firearm at Kennedy Airport, authorities said.
Henderson, 32, a forward/center for the Dallas Mavericks, was released without bail after appearing before Judge Joseph Grosso in Queens Criminal Court in Kew Gardens.
Authorities said Henderson, who has spent all but two years of his career with the Atlanta Hawks, ran afoul of the law while trying to board an outgoing flight at the JetBlue terminal about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
"He had this thing in his luggage and when the screeners went through it and found it in a box ... they notified Port Authority police and he was detained," a law enforcement source said. "This happens all the time. People come from with guns with permits and when they come to New York, they don't realize their permit's no good here."
It was not immediately known where Henderson was intending to fly, what kind of weapon he was traveling with and which state he lives in.
Henderson was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and, if convicted, faces up to 15 years in prison.
His attorney, Xavier Donaldson, could not be reached for comment.
Henderson earned the 1997-98 NBA most improved player award after setting career highs in scoring (14.3 ppg), rebounding (6.4 rpg) and field-goal percentage (.485).
He is the only Indiana University basketball player to rank in the school's top five all time in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots and steals, according to the NBA's Web site.

RE: Alan Henderson
Although it was stupid, this is probably an honest mistake.

Bernie, he probably subscribes to the theory that says: "I'd rather have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it."

RE: Alan Henderson
Honest mistake. Anyone carrying any semblence of a weapon to an airport deserves what is coming to them.

ok, we've talked about the problem of evil, and the extent of the atonement's application, but my real question to you is, "Could Jesus dunk?"

They said he had a liscense for it... but for some reason gun licsenses are no good in NY. I doubt that Hendu will get convicted.

He will be found guilty and fined. He probably pleads guilty for fast disposition. I doubt seriously that he contests this misdemeanor. This reminds me of BarrySwitzer a few years back.
