The triple double countdown...
Will Dirk notch a triple double with 12-7-5 with less than a couple of minutes to play left in the first half....

This is like a no-no watch. You don't start the watch too early.

Ever hear about getting a stick and shoving it up your @ss? I'm sure that Dirk's performance in such a huge game is more than deserving of it's own thread. But hey, you are allowed to want one thread for everything. Why have more than one thread for each forum?

Anyways, it's nice to see the team's top player break out of a mini-funk in a major way tonight..

Wow. Major props to Dirk for his first triple double. Major props to Murph for calling it with a couple of minutes to go in the first half.
Major fail to the thread police like tcat070, who I have never heard of, or DirkaDirkastan, he of the bouncing Jason Kidd with sunglasses avatar. It is idiots like this who are threatening the very fabric of this website. But I digress.
Great win for the Mavs, great game for Dirk.

Fail to Hitman, who doesn't recognize this is Dirk's second triple-double.

First off, Murph didn't call it. He created a thread stating that Dirk had 12 points, 7 boards, and 5 assists and asked whether we thought he would get it. That's something that was already stated in the GDT and should be discussed there. After all, its a Game Day Thread. Used for discussing the game. I would imagine that speculation on a possible trip-doub would belong there.
This isn't just me being a thread police. Its practical. During games, I rarely leave the GDT thread. I had no idea that thread was made during the game and only realized after the game. Hard for people to participate in discussion if they don't know its going on.
I don't have any vendetta against Murph, just think this thread was not necessary.
And I'm sorry you haven't heard of me and the 2750 more posts I've made than you. Let me introduce myself. Hi.

This says he has two (search the page for triple-double, otherwise its impossible to find in all that text).
Also says it has 4 in the playoffs.

If everyone stopped wasting time complaining about the validity of threads by posting their complaints in the thread they are complaining about, this site would be a much more informative & interesting place to discuss hoops. A large # of threads are littered with comments like yours- whining that the topic is not threadworthy. If you don't think it is threadworthy, then don't waste your time posting in it. If nobody thinks it is threadworthy, then the thread will die a quick death.

I apologize for trying to make this site easier to discuss Mavericks basketball by abolishing multiple threads covering the same topic. My bad. How stupid of me. This isn't detracting from this being informative and interesting, this is trying to improve that.

1) You can't abolish threads.
2) The threads didn't cover the same topic. Your post only caused us to steer off topic in THIS THREAD.
3) Murph has contributed more to this site than you ever will.
4) We all accept your apology, as long as you understand that even though you may have meant good, you caused harm.
Your job is not to abolish threads. Your job is to post interesting, insightful comments in threads which you find compelling and to start a thread when you feel there is reason to do so.
As long as you and your brethren understand these facts, all is good.

I think Duncan has had two triple doubles in the regular season and one in the playoffs.. but, I'd have to do a little research to confirm that.
That would be interesting to know..how many triple-doubles some of the elite PF's in the history of the game have had.

Hate to break it to you, but as of March 30, 2010, both tcat and Dirka are exponentially more established on this board than you are. This ain't 2002, bro.

KG has a bunch of TDs. Webber too, I think. Duncan also had a near quaduple double in the NBA finals against the Nets.

I believe CWebb had 22 triple-doubles. Obviously, it has to do with how the team is built and how a specific player is used. Webber was a great passer, and the Kings ran alot of offense through the guy.

Malone had 4 triple doubles. Obviously, it was probably hard for him to have many great assist games playing alongside Stockton.

Kinda thinking the opposite.. games with more than 5 turnovers...
Dirk 15
Garnett 54
Malone 141
Webber 53
Duncan 62
Barkley 100

Dirk always has one of the lowest turnover rates in the NBA (which is absurd given how much he has/handles the ball). The top guys are usually guys like Peja (catch & shoot guys).

That's a pretty amazing stat. Not that Dirk ever passed the ball as much as Garnett or Webber, but still. Just 15 over the course of more than a decade...wow. I bet Dampier could have hung 150 up there just with his bad mitts alone.

Hitman's been here much longer and has much more cred in my book than either of the two jackasses that tried to backseat mod this thread. It's funny to me that they have 4000+ and 7300+ posts and I can't honestly remember any of their contributions to this once proud forum. Hitman and I go way back though.
Just my opinion.

This board was a better place when Murph posted more. Murph and several others. There used to be some great hoops analysis 'round these parts.
