Mcgee plays often enough for his skill level. The better question is what is going on with John Jenkins? He was the leading scorer during preseason and he never sees the floor even when all the starters are sitting!

What did Lopez score tonight? McGee is more of a defensive stopper. RC seems to have given up on interior defense.

Mavs top 2 coach Rick Carlisle at his finest. Hates playing young guys. Good shot Jenkins gets more minutes next year like it happened for Powell his 2nd year with the mavs.

I sometimes wonder if Rick tests guys by benching them. Powell responded very poorly early on in the season when Rick took a lot of his minutes away. I remember last season when Aminu was basically benched for three weeks for unknown reasons. He responded quite well after that.

McGee's problem is that he is so limited mentally that you're never going to get DAJ production even though he basically has his talent and skill level.

Spurs top1 coach plays his roster. Everybody is ready when needed. Pop does not use "whipping boy" policies and wins a lot more.

Spoken by the guy who wanted to release McGee before he played.

Mavs are not as talented as the Spurs. Pop can afford to do things differently. RC has essentially a brand new roster every year with "plan B" or worse type players. Spurs have had the same core/system for a decade. Also who cares if he uses tactics to get results. The fact is he gets results. Salah has played well he deserves time. It may just be a hot hand approach or maybe he's just been playing better than McGee, maybe he just liked the match-up better. Jenkins also hasn't done anything to warrant more mins. He gets spot minutes and has done literally nothing. Salah, Evans, and JA have all contributed whether it be rebounding or defense at least.

I thought Mejri was good and has been good.

Also, we have no idea what he opened off the court. Rick doesn't like guys who don't hustle or don't take things seriously. Perhaps Mejri out hustled in practice and performed better off court. Also, Rick seems to be in love with Powell's ability to score when we are down guys. McGee really can't create or provide much for the offense. He doesn't screen particularly well like Zaza and he can't shoot/drive like Powell.

If it were up to me, Powell would never play any C minutes unless we were trying to go small. I'd also play whichever of the two backup centers was playing harder, which is what Rick is doing.

For the very reason that he is the dumbest player in the league. I guess you missed that part...

He also has a poor injury history and is likely still limited because of it.

I'm wondering if Rick is testing Mejri before the TDL to see if he is consistent enough to keep around long-term.
McGee and/or Powell might be shopped along with one of our PGs for a quality PF or another area of need.

Zaza/Mejri/Dirk seems to be our current Center trio.
