Default Payback - Evil or Saintly?

I'm trying to decide if I should respond to the individuals who made me so miserable at the last GS game last week. If you are interested in offering suggestions on how I could respond, read on. Brace yourselves for some complaining.

Here's a bit of what transpired:

As a couple of you know, I was at the Golden State game last week to hold up my [img]i/expressions/heart.gif[/img] poster for NVE, and make sure he felt warmly received at the AAC. I intentionally got a seat against a wall, so that I wouldn't block anyone's view with my poster. I tried to be careful not to hold it up during play time.

What I did not know was that the season ticket holders on my left (a couple in their late 50s) normally use that "empty" seat to hold their coats, and give them extra room for their viewing pleasure. They were enormously inconvenienced by my presence, and they treated me like I was the lowest life form to ever crawl into the arena. I kept trying to ignore their (primarily her) facial expressions, comments, attitude, but in the end I was miserable and chose to leave early.

I'm trying to decide how (if) to respond. I don't like feeling like "a big no body", and somehow I feel that if I do something they might realize that they were really mean and selfish and it's not nice to treat people so poorly. I wish I'd let it go, but it still eats at me.

So, I was thinking of having drinks delivered to their seats. Maybe if I'm nice they will want to be nice in the future?

Validation. That's what I'm going for here - not "revenge" so much.

They were probably pissed because you took that ridiculous sign supporting the spare that is NVE. For that, sadly enough, you probably deserved what transpired. That's what happens whenever you support thugs like NVE.

slip a viagra pill in his drink. I'm sure the wife would much like that, and it would be sweet revenge.

I'm sorry, but I can't get involved to help smiles out with this one. I agree with the anti-NVE couple.

What is it with fans at Mavs games? I scored completely legitimate (through a friend that worked at the NBA at the time) seats in the lower area of Reunion. One fan decided to tell me that the whole area was reserved for season ticket holders (the area was 1/4 full) and despite producing my ticket, continued to hassle me and my guests, to the point that I suggested very strongly that they move away as we weren't going anywhere.

Smiles, I say too bad to them. The notion of a seat left untaken at a sports events for coats and somesuch sickens me. If they want the convenience, they can fork out the dough and get the extra seat. Otherwise, stay home, watch it there. I'm betting they have a seat in their lounge room assigned for their coats.

so they probably bought those season tickets next to one single seat for the sole purpose of knowing no one would sit there, as not too many people buy just one ticket. and then get pissed when someone does sit there. that's pretty sucky.

Thanks for nothing, Murph. They were favorable toward NVE "surprisingly" enough.

Oz: I've never had problems like that in the lower bowl. Everyone is usually so friendly! I guess there are "all sorts"....

BBL: True, maybe they did count on that seat always being empty. Also true: if they were as "well-to-do" and high class as they seemed to consider themselved, they would've purchased the third seat. What a couple cheap skates.

If I was in that situation I would probably respond by loudly and verbosely commenting on the game while sometimes spilling my beer or other adulterated beverage on them as I jumped to my feet every time Big Shawn or Employee #8 make a play. Actually, that's what I usually do anyway, but if I bought my ticket that's just too bad for any snotty season ticket holders offended by the presence or raucousness of me or my friends at the game...

I think it's a dream of many members of this board to spend a Mavs game and a few beers with with Evil, madape and mantis!

I think I would fart in their direction at every opportunity. I'd even make overly obnoxious "Ahhhhhhh" sounds to bring the effect home.

Doc, that's not really my thing, but thank you for the idea. R-O-F-L

Evil, I can't act like that - the swat team would surely pull me outta there in seconds. No spilling beer on other patrons!! I mean it!

Fuzz, thank you for your kind offer. Do you think you could also drop a few F-bombs on my behalf?

I greatly appreciate the feedback from each of you. Thank you for your well-presented responses. I'm touched that so many of you would belch and bellow on my behalf.

What I am most comfortable with is killing them with kindness. You know, somehow make them feel like they should've been nice.... (?). I'm still so naive, I know. I must be sick. Maybe we'll think of an idea, and then again maybe I'll eventually forget about it.

I agree, go with guilt. It's usually effective.

Then if that doesn't work go with one of our bellowing, belching friends.

BTW, I've noticed this too. I thought it was just me and my Najera signs, yelling "I love you Eddie," and blowing kisses at Eduardo.
