Me too, 11th/12th man for most of his career assuming he stays in the league.

Bass Could Get Contract Offer From Dallas
July 23, 2007 - 1:30 pm New Orleans Times-Picayune -
Former Hornets forward Brandon Bass gave consistent performances during the four games he played for the Dallas Mavericks ' summer league team. After giving that type of effort, there is a chance he could land a contract offer from Dallas, although the Hornets have the right to match it because Bass is a restricted free agent.
Bass averaged 14.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and shot 57.6 percent from the field during the Las Vegas Summer League. During two seasons with the Hornets he did not develop at the pace Coach Byron Scott desired.

I don't think NO will match an offer, they had him for 1-2 years and he really didn't carve out a niche for himself there. He didn't play for their summer league team or didn't hear about them wanting to go there. He stayed with the Mavs.
1-2 years for something hovering, but below, LLE money will probably be in the range.
The bigger issue is the roster is going to need some movement because it's getting full.

I'd like to see Bass get an offer from the Mavs, provided the money is realistic as are the expectations of playing time. Wonder if there's any way for the Mavs to put some kind of "poison pill" in the offer to keep New Orleans from matching, since I don't expect the offer would be much (if at all) above the minimum. The NBA CBA doesn't seem to allow for those as much as the NFL (like the "guaranteed four-year extension if you play more than 6 games in Minnesota in a season), but perhaps throwing in a player option year or a very expensive buyout clause or something would scare them off just enough.

Summer League Recap: Dallas Mavericks
By Bill Ingram
for HOOPSWORLD.com

Dallas Mavericks
Summer League: NBA Summer League, Las Vegas (5-0); Rocky Mountain Revue (1-1))
Record: 6-1
Key Stats: The Mavericks shot 42% from the field in Las Vegas and held opponents to 40% . . .Dallas turned the ball over 16 times per contest while forcing 22 turnovers . . .Brandon Bass led the Mavs in scoring with 14.8 points per game while JJ Barea averaged 14.4 points and 6.2 assists in Vegas. The Mavericks shot 54% from the field in two games in Utah, where Nick Fazekas averaged 17.5 points per game and shot 68% from the field.
Highlights: Pops Mensah-Bonsu went toe-to-toe with top overall draft pick Greg Oden in the Mavericks' second game of summer league. Oden surprised Mensah-Bonsu with an early block, but Pops came back to get one of his own shortly thereafter. Pops scored 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to Oden's 13 points and five boards as the Mavericks won, 72-68. In their fourth game the Mavs beat the Houston Rockets, who were trying to go undefeated for third straight year in Vegas. Mo Ager scored 21 points, including two key free throws, to lead Dallas to a 98-94 win.
Standout Player: Jose Juan Barea looked fantastic throughout summer league play, running the Avery Johnson offense to perfection and leading the Mavericks to a 6-1 record. He more than makes up for his lack of height with his speed and court vision, much as he did while playing with the Ft. Worth Flyers of the NBDL last season. Barea averaged 16 points and seven assists in Utah after averaging 14.8 points and 6.2 assists in Vegas, where he shot 53% overall and 43% from downtown.
Surprises: Brandon Bass came to the Mavericks via New Orleans, where he spent two seasons doing very little besides warming the bench. Bass arrived in Vegas determined to make an impression on the Mavericks, and he did just that. He was their leading scorer with 14.8 points per game and also averaged 6.2 rebounds and shot 58% from the field. In just two games in Utah he averaged 10 points and five rebounds per game while connecting on 61% from the field.
Disappointments: The word going into training camp was that the Mavericks were going to look for low post offense from Gana Diop, but he really didn't provide much of that. He took a lot of outside shots (not his strength) and then didn't play much after the first two games.
Key Questions: Which big man will find his offense? Gana Diop was supposed to be working on some low post moves, but instead he spent much of his summer league time shooting mid-range jumpers . . .that fell well short of their mark. Pops Mensah-Bonsu was dominant in the paint defensively and did a great job rebounding, but he, too, struggled to put the ball in the hole. Mensah-Bonsu was more of an offensive force in the NBDL last season; will he be able to contribute to the 'real' Dallas Mavericks this season? They desperately need a low post threat.
Conclusion: The Mavericks continue to say they're standing pat with the roster that won 67 games last season. What they were looking for in summer league was a player or two who might be able to help out with rebounding and add some perimeter firepower. Mo Ager, JJ Barea, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, and Brandon Bass all made strong cases for themselves in summer league play. Nick Fazekas showed some signs, but struggled overall. He is thought to be the future back-up to Dirk Nowitzki, but the future may not be the 2007-08 season.
