Smart on his part. Max exposure with opportunity to be a solid contributor and win while showcasing value, if he has anything left. Better to be in LA playing under all that media attention than stuck in a place like say Phoenix or Cleveland.

Can't really call him a ring chaser when likely that was the only team who even offered him a one-year contract.

If that's all the interest Cousins was able to garner, then I expect to see Howard in the G League. Wouldn't that be awesome! LOL

-Alec Burks to Warriors. OKC let their FA signing re-evaluate after PG trade.
-Jabari Parker to ATL.

Sam Amick: For those wondering, source tells @TheAthletic that OKC does this deal with full anticipation that Chris Paul will be part of a good team that now has a treasure trove of future assets. Gallinari, SGA, Adams, Roberson, Noel core, and EIGHT new 1st rounders, as @Travonne noted. – via Twitter sam_amick

Who goes to the media, unhappy about number of touches first: Westbrook or Harden?

Presti must be thinking of trading Paul like Woj is already reporting, they already have Shai who has a lot of potential as a PG.
@wojespn
1h1 hour ago
Houston hoped to find third-team destination preferable to Chris Paul, but ultimately leaves it OKC to execute next step once Presti confers w/ CP3 agent Leon Rose. Miami remains possibility for Paul (3 years, $124M) -- and OKC obviously has picks to incentivize deal, if needed.

I like it for the Rockets. That squad wasn't going to be enough, even with Paul 100% healthy for a full season, of which we know the odds of happening. Westbrook is more durable and a better defender at this age, adding size and rebounding, and will get them back to run and gun. I think the Rockets can make Westbrook/Harden work way better than Paul/Harden.

Also, I take back any support for Grayson Allen. Apparently some idiots never learn. I gave him the benefit of the doubt of being a teenager and then again in his last year at Duke, but what a punk.

I'll take Allen and three more like him. That was a bullshit ejection from a bullshit summer ref, based on reputation alone.

I guess we watched different clips. It was a tantrum to a legit back screen (not even truly back screen, more side) and then retaliatory, lazy slap across the top of Williams' head after. Please don't try to tell me that was clean and unintentional.

I get it. Selective perception, selective acceptability.

I'm waiting for the hit piece on Chris Paul being a terrible teammate in Houston. As Zach Lowe mentioned in his latest article, we don't know what was happening in that locker room and it's possible the issues between Harden and Paul were beyond repair, which would make the trade better for Houston. Harden certainly seems to have been vouching for Westbrook so we'll see.

Interesting...
@SBondyNYDN: According to a source, Marcus Morris and Nerlens Noel have fired agent Rich Paul.

Same year shabazz turned down 4/40 because he thought Paul would get him 20 the next summer. Paul misjudged his power and the cap Situation in 2017 and 2018 sooo badly
Cole is another one....played Hardball with Paul as agent and is out of the league

Rich Paul is the best thing to ever happen to the Mavs in recent memory, otherwise we'd be stuck with NN.

Apparently Marcus Morris was offered a three-year, $41 million offer from the Clippers and turned it down before agreeing to the two year, $20 million offer with the Spurs. No wonder he was unhappy with Rich Paul and Klutch.

Which is why it's so, so silly for people to care about cap space in 2021. Good god, I want to win NOW. Is that really so much to ask for since we've mostly sucked since 2011? 2021 would be ten freaking years since that championship.

Hard to say without more details, but who knows, it wouldn't be the first case of an agent misreading the market and providing bad advice. Rich Paul in particular has a history of participating in various holdouts as well (like was mentioned above, even for players like Norris Cole and Tristan Thompson). Perhaps Rich Paul told him he would get a better offer if he waited until Kawhi decided where to go?.
He accepted the Spurs offer on July 6th, same day Kawhi announced he was going to the Clippers, so it's possible they realized at that point there were no better offers and could also be part of the reason why he reneged that offer for the Knicks later for more money this year.

Rich Paul has long been the most overrated agent in pro sports. Most agents are attorneys, but Paul didn't even graduate from college. He has ridden Lebron's coattails to power and then wonders why nobody respects him. I have zero respect for him and his way of doing business. Poor Nerlens.

Poor Nerlens? He didn’t have to hire him as his agent. Nerlens is an idiot, and we should all be thankful for that since he turned down the biggest offer he will ever receive.

@ShamsCharania: Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons has agreed to a five-year, $170 million maximum contract extension, agent Rich Paul tells @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium.

It's one of those contracts you have to do if you are Philly but man, tough to shell out that much money for a PG who is so limited as a shooter as Simmons.
He got the same contract as Jamal Murray, but right now I think I'd much rather have Murray. Higher ceiling.

Sources: The Cleveland Cavaliers have waived JR Smith, making him a free agent. Cavs had been attempting to move Smith all the way up until the 5 p.m. ET waiver deadline today.

I like what the Bulls have done in Free agency and draft. They added some solid players to their roster and I think they should be in the mix for a playoff spot this year.
They added Thad Young, Satoransky, drafted Coby White and Gafford, who looked really well during summer league. Between them and their current players (Zach, Otto Porter and Lauri), they have a solid squad to compete in the East for the first time since Butler left.
Also, whenever I think of Thad Young I can't stop thinking of this silly graph by Fox Sports Indiana ( https://awfulannouncing.com/nba/fox-...and-magic.html). The famous "13.5/5.9/1.4/49%/30%" club
