Funny, I sorta thought the opposite. I thought the first two were decent but like the boat one best (not great overall though).

Haven't watched The Event this week. Week 1 was pretty interesting though. Week 2 was okay...

i'm also recording the event, but haven't watched any. waiting to see if it sticks.
but i did not like that they were already having to use the "Answers will be revealed!" advertising campaign before episode #2.

Well if you watch the first episode you'd know why they used that. I doubt they had to, but what they did reveal in the 2nd episode was pretty interesting.

They used the same gimmick for Persons Unknown and it turned out to be a complete joke. I'm still trying to figure out "the answers", unless I missed something.

just mark it with spoilers
my main thing is a show shouldn't have to be reaching with "we promise we're going to reveal something" advertising one episode in.

I agree. I was able to finish catching up this summer via DVD so I was pretty bumped for the new season. It's been a little bit of a letdown but "The Gang Buys a Boat" was definitely a step in the right direction.
So far for this season, I've gotta say that The League has been the better of the two shows in that combo.

Ugh, I missed it but have it on record late tonight. Can't wait to watch it....
Did catch Boardwalk and still very, very good. Can't remember the last new HBO show that I enjoyed this much.

Just now working your way through that huh?
I have to say I came away with an appreciation for The Pacific...it was done well and was a good story. But it doesn't touch Band of Brothers. Not by a mile.

Yeah, I finished it today.
I have mixed feelings about the story they chose to tell, yet acknowledge that it was very well told. Yeah it's no Band of Brothers, but that's an impossible standard.
Where it IS a "band of brothers" is that after every hour of the show I felt like a piece of sh!t lazy, spoiled mother f%cker. I feel like someone who has not earned the right to the freedom for which they fought so hard. It makes me feel inadequate as an American and as a man. They sacrificed so much, and what have I done?
So in that way...it's exactly like BoB. It made me appreciative. Really, really appreciative.

Keep in mind that Sunny is in its 6th season....not every show can be drop dead funny forever.
And whoever's idea it was for a live 30 rock...yuck.

Yeah, 6 seasons is a long time...it just feels it went from drop dead funny to kind of funny in a hurry. It's like they're trying too hard.

Are you kidding me? The boat episode was hilarious. It's the implication. You keep saying that word.

I mentioned earlier that "The Gang Buys a Boat" was a step in the right direction. I can't put my finger on it, but there is something off with the writing or the timing. The show hasn't fallen off the face of the map, but it definitely isn't the same. It may be that my expectations are too high for it now.

I agree the first 2 weren't great for Sunny standards...but I think the last 2 have been very good. The boat ep might be top 10 for me.

With Sunny....If I were to pinpoint what isn't working with Sunny this season, I think it would be Danny Devito's character starting to get old.
In other shows....last night's episode of Boardwalk Empire was once again soooo good. It's pretty hard for me to get drawn into a new show so easily, but I find myself watching this show's episodes more than once....

Boardwalk is definitely a great show. It is going to be interesting watching them develop Capone's character, among so many other things.

Anyone giving "no ordinary family" a try? Finally got around to watching the pilot last night, and I liked it. Chiklis didn't annoy me like I thought he would. Now don't spoil the other episodes for me - haven't watched those yet.
