Totally agree - DoJo is a better PG than Roddy... But Kaman is a better PG than DoJo.

This team desperately needs another point guard.

Those tags should be banned. I'd hate for this place to become spurstalk.

We do need another backup point, I am afraid of both Roddy and Dojo. Or, we need a starting point and Collison can backup. .

Eddy Curry?! Really?! Another injurie prone... the Mavs need a Center that can play regularly... why not take a risk on a young guy... I will give my tip here... We (Grizzlies) just release Jerome Jordan... he is solid... a shotblocker and athletic guy. He could fill Mahimmi role.

http://www.nbadraft.net/players/jerome-jordan

http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Jerome-Jordan-5160/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_y2pir6CVkI

He looks stronger than in the video... for sure he add some needed muscle without loosing athleticism. By the way, I trully don't know why we waived him he is better than HH and fill more our backup need...

Melvin Ely and Chris Douglas-Roberts also signed? Cubes says that West can come back, possibly? No more pre-season games and a 15-man roster starting Monday?

I just don't understand. Can we have 18 players now?

Monday is the deadline. They have practices lined up for Sunday and Monday. Expect them to be highly competitive. It's possible the last two are just guys for Frisco. No word on where West currently is.

Why did the Mavs sign Ely and CDR just to waive them a day later?

Apparently it was to get them to the D-League. So I assume that they can be called at any point in the year if need be, and one of the kids can be moved down if need be?

half of the roster should go to Frisco.

-Roddy
-DoJo
-Dahantay J
-Ely
-CDR
-Cunningham
-Wright
-James

That's a nice D-league team. Watching them in a NBA playoff series won't be fun.

But I thought it had to be one of the kids? I thought there was a rule that you can't be sent to the D-League from an NBA roster if you have been in the league for X amount of years.

Nope. The player must agree to be sent down when they have more than 2 years in the league.

Ah, that is what I was thinking about. Of course it is career suicide if you refuse to be sent down......

Yep, Lamar Odom agreed to go to the D-League last season, but he didn't end up playing any games.

Just to clarify you can't just "send a kid down" and call up someone like CDR or Ely. Sending someone on your roster to the DLeague doesn't open up a roster spot.

They'd have to waive/trade someone.

Indeed. We are still limited to 15 (13 active) so it doesn't matter how many we have.

We can waive them from the Mavs and they can play for the Legends, but the only way that they can be a Mav is to actually have a roster spot and contract. I wonder if the reporting is off, or if there was some other motivation, because the only contract that played even one game for us was Curry.

Why would the Mavs think anyone would want him in a stand alone trade?

No takers for Dojo? No way....

My guess is that the Mavs have been shopping Dojo for some time now.

I wonder if they could get high second round draft pick for him..

Does this bit of news mean that the locker room issue is between DoJo and West?

Not necessarily and we may never know. However, Dojo was supposed to be a PG and when he was out there he was looking for his shot moreso than setting up the offense. He had a lot of TO's from being caught in mid air going to the basket instead of driving and dishing.

There's still a slight chance he doesn't survive the short term. He survives the 4pm window though.

Why not just waive him also and sign a backup PG for the time being?

They have to clear waivers if they were one that was just released within the last day or couple of hours.

Well, figured this would be what ended up happening, but it's still a bummer. Now would be a really good time for Booby to start playing with some aggressiveness on the offensive end. And/or for DoJo to, you know, start playing like he belongs in the NBA.

I know Nick Calathes recently signed a two-year contract to play in Greece, but what would it take to get him in a Mavs uniform at some point? Have we given up on the guy? Has he given up on the NBA? Do we even hold rights to him anymore?

Wouldn't the Mavs have to pay Calathes' team to release him?
