I am also confused about Dončić's height. Is he 6'6" or 6'8"?

So excited to see him play in Vegas. Now lets use those two second rounders well and maybe sneak another pick. I wanna watch more than Junior and Doncic play.

Good evening guys, I'm new here. I've been following the Mavs and Nowitzki for a long time and I decided to register in the day we got the best diamond since Dirk. Luka Dončić is a formidable player. This move will lead us to many happy days! Best day for this franchise since 12 June 2011.
Cheers!

Traded 54 (Milton) for 56 and 60
@bobbykaralla
The Mavs have acquired the draft rights to Ray Spalding and Kostas Antetokounmpo in exchange for the draft rights to Shake Milton.

Luka Doncic will wear No. 77. Jalen Brunson will wear No. 13.

Erica, if this is right.... This is the best draft I have ever seen as a Mavericks fan. I was happy with Doncic at 3/5. Jesus... The night just keeps getting better! Bring in Boogie!!!! I know he is a pain in the ass but you can't deny his skill. I think they finally trade Wes, and let Set be the player off the bench... But Jesus the Mavericks just had a great draft.

I know we have a ton of PGs, but Brunson is a winner. BBIQ off the charts. Super efficient. Great size at 6'3". Not super athletic but somehow gets it done. Dominant post play for a guard. Reminds me of Deron Williams-- but smarter and not a douchenozzle.
We may be the least athletic team in the league, but smart players get it done.

I can't imagine having a better draft than this. I'd say let's just go balls-out this summer and sign the best players we can that will take two years or fewer and see if we can make the playoffs, but I think I'd rather we look at complementary types (i.e. shooters, defenders, rebounders) that will give us good pieces in aiding the development of DSJ and Doncic. I wouldn't be mad if we got a third helping of Tyson Chandler next year (maybe even extending him for cheap for a 2nd year) because you know, despite his diminishing athleticism, he's still a great leader on and off the court and won't make mistakes or teach bad habits. Seems like the kind of big they could learn a lot from.
If we don't go either the first route (i.e. Boogie for 2 years) or second route (Tyson), I really, really want us to throw a max offer at Capela at 12:01AM on July 1st. He would be the very best long-term fit next to DSJ/Doncic.
(Just realized I'm way more buzzed than I expected to be at this time, since I was prepared to see us draft Bamba, so sorry if that stuff wasn't coherent but TBH I lowkey just want Tyson back)

Was kinda hoping they would go all in an try for the 4th and 5th picks. That's worth giving up next year's #1 and a player or two.
But ESPN seems to think the Mavs "won the draft". We'll see.

96th percentile in PnR-- one of the major plays in the NBA.
96th in ISOs
98th in posts
Dude is built like Kidd/Deron Williams with the intellect of both. Might not be an elite defender and rebounder like Kidd, but I like the move for a second rounder.

Adequate athleticism and A+ intelligence for defense. I think he could be a quality player.

I hope you are right, and I'll root for him, but imo the draft was anti-climactic. This was the deepest draft in years, and the Mavs paid a very high price for Doncik, which will hopefully be worth it, but then did absolutely NOTHING until their next pick at 33 in the 2nd round. Then they took a PG! WTH?! At least take a SG if you're gonna spend the pick on a guard! There were way too many other talented players still available who could've filled other glaring holes in the Mav's roster that could've been selected instead of drafting yet another guard.
I think towards the end that even the MBT realized that they had failed to take full advantage of the talent available in this draft, so they ended up scrambling and trading pick 54 for two others... 56 and 60. Yeah, the numbers in the end seem nice - 4 draftees, but the total talent haul was nowhere near what it should have been, and THAT is extremely disappointing to me.

Hey Mavs fans ! I'm from sLOVEnia and I cheer for Dončić. And today I officially became Mavs fan. I've been closely watching Dončić since he started playin in Real at age of 16 (2years ago). I've watched him play in person in Madrid. He's incredible kid with great court vision, "feeling" for basketball. Can't wait to see him play for Mavs. I'm really really happy to see him here as Mavs organisations is 1 of the best in league (I'm watching NBA since I was a kid.. waking up in the middle of the night and watch Jordan beat Jazz ). I like your coach, owner who takes care of players, Nowitzki obviously. Anyway I'm happy Dončić joined ya and can't wait to see him play in NBA ! Cheerz !
edit; I plan to visit Dallas next season. Obviously cuz of Wonder boy

I'm still in shock. Mavs had their eyes on the prize and make an aggressive move up to go get him, without giving up too much. Would not have been possible had the Hawks not had their hearts set on Trae Young, but I still give the Mavs mad props. Good day for the franchise.

They gave up next year first with pretty low protections. You don't think that's giving up a lot? I'm not saying it was a bad move, but giving up a future 1st when you're in a rebuild is pretty substantial iMO.

I agree that the 2019 pick shouldn’t be discounted. I think, however, the way the league is headed, to get the most skilled wing to come along in arguably a decade at the cost of a pick in the 10-20 range in a weak draft is absolutely a steal. People had this class pegged as a generational class for a while, and then Bagley reclassified and made it even more talent-rich. Doncic goes number one overall next year. Doncic goes number one overall last year. The combination of talent and the draft order just so happened to make this possible for us this year, and we pounced.

I completely agree, but at the same time I really don't want to start looking forward to the draft again in November. It's months of waiting for a single name to be mentioned at a podium while you watch your team tank and lose the entire season.
Now we can just focus on winning.

Next year’s draft is really weak, maybe only 4-5 guys with starting potential. If you’re going to give up a 1st round pick next year is the year to do it. The Mavs just need to do their best to win so that it’s as low a pick as possible.

Regardless how "weak" a draft class is considered I'd be willing to bet there are 3-4 all stars in each one. Meaning if you have good scouts and you let them do their job you should be able to find good players.

Yeah I hate the whole "it's a weak class" mantra that's being used. Your job is to build your team and do it right now with cheap young players. Barrett and Teddish can come right in and help this organization. You have to find the right guys.

Hi guys,
You've got a new fan from Spain (Europe). I'm a Real Madrid fan and I'm really happy because Dallas signed Doncic. Best team for him, great city and wonderful fans.
I've seen Luka Doncic since he was playing for Real Madrid young academy when he was a little boy (12 years old). He is amazing, guys. I would like to talk about a few topics:
-In Europe we measure without shoes. He is 6'7. He is 2'01 tall (no shoes). But, he is 19 years old (02/26/1999) and last two years he grew up 1 inch. It's possible that he will grow up a little more.
-In Europe he is an all-around combo player. He can play 1-4 posititions. His best poition is: SG on defense. PG on attack.
-Signature movement. Step back. This movement is an ankle killer. It's very similar than James Harden one.
-Strenths. IQ, rebounds, personality, all-around, pick&roll, easy to get stadistics, passing and face the ring. He has one of the highest IQ that I've ever seen in my life. He sees the basket very easy. He is a huge rebounder man (in Europe one of the best).
-Weaknesses. Defense on small and speed PGs. He is very big and he can't defense guys like Isiaa Thomas for example. However, Dallas is perfect for him in order to hide this weakness. He must to improve his large shoot. He is a very good shooting man, however, he only has 31% three point successful. Is very low but, I have to write that he is a very good shooter on stop feet position. His stadistics go down due to the fact that he uses so much the step back and crazy shoots. In Spain, we call it "mandarina" (tangerine) LOL.
-Issues to improve. Shoot percentage and athletic. I'm sure that Mavericks will give him the best personal trainer and in a short time he we'll have muscles over the muscles
-Player to compare. I've read on USA forums about Luka Doncic seems Lebron James. I don't agree. In my opinion he seems Larry Bird.
Finally, I give you a couple pretty videos.
Is Luka Doncic the new Larry Bird?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RupuylGUy0&t=1s
Luka Donc's highlights
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-t9j71jbp0
Remenber guys. Euroleague + Spanish ACB are >>>>>>>>> than NCAA. And Luka Doncis is Euroleague MVP regular season and MVP F4. And MVP ACB regular season. He won 2017 Europen cup (against Pau Gasol, Porziņģis, Gobert and so on). He won Euroleague and Spainsh ACB on 2018. Third guy to reach a triple-double on ACB history. 2º highest history PIR on Euroleague regular season It's crazy!!!!!

Fin is 6'7 right? He seems a little bit taller so I guess legit 6'8?
