Luka?s postgame interview was rough. He could barely talk.

I think he?s probably still playing through his thigh injury, possibly going through a breakup with his girlfriend, frustrated things aren?t working out with another star player in Kyrie, and losing a lot of games for the first time in his career.

Luka, that?s why you make the big bucks! Fix it! And start by telling your coach to surround you with three defensive players and one that can actually protect the rim!!!

Cuban better start fixing things quick or Luka will be a Laker in a few years.

Mavs fall out of the play-in and playoffs

11th means 6% chance to keep out pick (up from 4)

If we can somehow fall a bit more, our odds leap to 60%+

I Still don't understand this logic to tank with Luka and kyrie on the roster.

In fact I think it would be an embarrassing situation to have two of the top 10 players in the NBA and still not make the playoffs

FA's really haven't made Dallas a top choice to play

Luka will most likely get pissed and I doubt some rookie mid 1st round pick will change his mind. It'll be like Colin Sexton on draft night begging LeBron to stay

I just don't think tanking makes any sense unless your just trying to make the decisions easier for both Kyrie and Luka to want out

I honestly see both Kyrie and Wood bolting after this season because this team simply doesn't have the proper personnel to turn it around.

The FO completely screwed this thing up after not bringing in some type of defensive presence at the wing and center after the Kyrie trade which shouldn't have been too difficult to do. God, you make a deal to pair two offensive superstars and then completely ignore the defense.

I'm still pissed that Cuban and Kidd thought McGee was a starting caliber center on a contender and that Powell was their contingency plan.

And then you watch the lakers make several moves to fill multiple needs at the deadline

They have been the best defensive team in the NBA after trade deadline and that pickup for Vanderbilt wasn't flashy but it was perfect for their defense

I felt like the mavs should have went after Bey and bamba right after the Kyrie move but them fools became satisfied with their boys in blue as usual

I believe in the Luka/Kyrie pairing, but only with two athletic 3&D wings, with a solid, lob athletic, defensive capitain center, and a jordan Clarkson type-6th man.

Green and Hardy seem to be the only two who have any interest in playing and they are the only reason I'm still watching this team.
Their development has been the highlight of this season imo.

But even bigger than that is Kidd actually never fully committed to just going offense thinking that guys like Maxi, Frank, Pinson, and Holiday would somehow save us on defense.

Kidd is a defensive coach with an offensive team. Doesn't work. We don't have to personnel to play defense and a coach that isn't smart enough to go all offense.

Even if he went all offense they weren't going to outscore anyone either with this roster

They take way too many dumb ass 3's and don't focus on getting to the rim enough

I think we have the offensive talent as reflected by the efficiency, but not having anyone that could box out or grab a rebound is what killed us.

Can't be serious starting Powell. If they had committed to McGee/Wood while also developing Hardy earlier, then it had a chance.

But nothing was going to overcome how bad Kidd has been this season.

I honestly think Cuban refused to pay JB

There were two times that I thought we had offers on the table before the season, and then around, I think December or January, they looked the other way," Brunson said. "They had every right in the world to do so. I don't blame them for making any business decisions. That's on them."

Like over half of Mavs fans didn?t want to pay the guy. Cuban had experts telling him Brunson was the real deal before the season started. Unfortunately Nico was not one of those experts.

BTW - last season's playoff run was lightning in a bottle like we've never seen and will likely never see again.

Early in Brunson's career I was not a big fan of his with Rick coaching.

I thought the way Rick used both JB and KP was was b.s.

I wasn't comfortable with JB until Kidd got here and dude became a better natural PG.

As for Cuban he doesn't get a pass because he was so quick to gift wrap contract extensions to both Powell and THJ knowing even at their best they both still had major flaws in their games.

I found it hard to believe anyone would have given Powell that contract he got and not alot of teams were enamored with THJ either yet the mavs ponyed up the money

It wouldn't shock me if Powell gets resigned again

Most fundamental rule in being a GM--understand the market value of your players. It's not what YOU might pay them, its what anybody else would. Jerruh sucks at this worse than Mavs FO.

Probably will..he's a better player than his detractors think. Yes, various things he's not great at, but lots of things he is. That said...see above.

Agree....with the exceptions of rebounding, shooting, and defense, DP is good at everything else.

I don't totally disagree, but harping on Brunson forever does no good.

Neither does wanting Cuban to sell.

Only thing we can hope will change is the coach, and I'm betting Cuban doesn't do it. Sigh.

Listening to Luka post game interview saying he hasn't been happy this season might be the end of the line for Dallas

Dude can ask out at anytime if they don't make the playoffs everyone might be walking around on egg shells this summer

This is James Harden v2.0 when Harden was with the Rockets. He demanded so much from that franchise while everyone in the organization was downright terrified of him leaving. It's kind of ironic that Luka today is functioning just like Harden did back in the day in that Luka is having his very best season statistically. But at the same time, his absolute worse season from an overall productivity measure towards the overall team objectives.

Luka could demand a trade this offseason but if he doesn't change his ways (attitude, resistance towards playing decent defense, fitness/conditioning, regimen/lifestyle outside of basketball, etc), then he'll just be a top-of-the-line statistic achieving little bitch for the next team that he plays for - just like he is for the Mavs at this time.

I'm beginning to think the way he acts on the floor is a direct reflection of cuban

Cuban used to constantly whine and complain about the refs which wasn't good for the organization

Luka's actions doesn't help the team in the same manner

I hate to say it but I truly don't think dude will ever be like Dirk in terms of your expectations of a franchise player.

Dirk would never tell anyone he's unhappy or he's just out there playing like Luka did in his post game interview

Dirk played hard no matter of the situation and was a silent leader and professional

Dirk played on terrible rosters but he always found ways to put the damn team on his back and took it personal always thriving to prove critics wrong.

Damn I miss that kind of franchise leader

So, who would be the three best players, that aren?t stars to pair with Luka and Kyrie?

I think they need three defensive studs.

Kyrie, Luka, a super-athletic 3&D rebounding wing, Draymond Green, and another bouncy lobbing center who other teams fear blocking their shot.

Hardy as the 6th man offensive microwave off the bench.

Luka didn?t say he hated the Mavs. He said he liked them. He said he was going through some shit and wasn?t himself. I totally believe it.

Kinda think he should take some time away from the team and clear it up. Mental health is no joke.

Has NBA League Pass started blocking VPN users? I haven?t been able to watch the last few games. Keeps saying it?s local despite having a VPN across the country. I?m not super knowledgeable on this stuff.

Well doesn?t look like I am missing much. Just forfeit the rest of the games. Getting run out of them again by the worst team in the league.

Sometimes I just wish Luka would make the fundamental pass

Those two non challant passes he made in the last two minutes as turnovers are killers at times for momentum

It doesn't seem like a big deal at the moment but that shit hurts your team later

Team has checked out.

Again, if Kidd isn't fired, then Cuban wants us to be bad.

This team is an absolute dumpster fire defensively late in games.

This is all good though. We hopefully keep our pick and coach gets fired. Irving walks, and we have cap space and make Hardy an actual rotation piece.

We haven't been good all season. This just isn't the year. Gotta capitalize on being bad now.
