FG %
I've been keeping an eye on Finley's fg% since he was horrible at the start of the season. I think he dropped to 33% but has worked his way up to 42%. I think he'll raise it higher, especially once Dirk returns.
However, I was taking a look at some of the others and couldn't believe 2 things:
1. Walker's dropped from around 50% to 42%.
2. Nash has dropped from around 48% to 42% as well.
Here's a look: (fg/3-pt)
Finley- 41.7, 35.4
Walker- 42.2, 27.4
Nash- 42.4, 40
Delk- 40.4, 28.9
Howard- 36.8, 27.3
Best- 30.3, 10
Dirk- 46.3, 27.1
Jamison- 48.6, 28.6

RE: FG %
The team as a whole hasn't been shooting well at all, and I seriously hope we get better because the way we're shooting we're having to work twice as hard to get a win as well as having a bit of luck. This is the Dallas Mavericks, we shouldn't shoot under 40% as a team.

RE:FG %
FG% is important, but there is only 1 stat that matters, and that is posting 16 wins in the playoffs.

RE: FG %
Agreed, but higher FG% makes getting 16 wins in the playoffs easier

RE:FG %
It is strange about the field goal percentage going down. It seemed that before dirk fell they were beginning to get it together and then the wheels came off again.
I know one thing, that delk is a black hole man. He has a one-track-shoot-it-mind.
I really like what walker brings but he sure can throw up some junk sometimes. The more we HAVE to rely on him to score the worse it will get. And then he doesn't make his free throws. ARRRGGGG.... His scoring would be up about 3 points a game if he was better than 50%.

RE:FG %
dude,
That is a broken record for me concerning Walker.
But as I've said before : FG% is OVERRATED. As long as you score points than the other team, it doesn't matter if you shoot 5% from the field...
Take the Celtics/Raptors game tonight for example :
The Celtics shot almost 50% for the game tonight, outrebounded the Raps by almost 10 and took care of the ball better while the Raps shot a dismal 38%.... but THEY STILL lost by 10 to them.
Why? Because the Raptors were shooting 3's and making them all over the place. They shot around 25+ 3's and made more than half of them (a sizzling 68%)!!
so yeah....FG% is definitely OVER-RATED.

RE:FG %
I think I could probably deal with Walker shooting 38% overall, if he was shooting 68% from three-point land.
Edit: Dude, by the way, you are right about Delk.

RE:FG %
Agreed on Delk. At first I liked him. I still like his hard work on defense, but he shoots way too much for a bit player.

Maybe Nellie's telling him to shoot so much to showcase him for the trade for Mihm.

RE:FG %
The scary thing is that in the Wizard's game, the Mavs only shot 41% and they still won 97-72. Just think when their shots start dropping how much they are going to kill teams. What would the score have been if they'd of shot 60% from the field? And this is without Dirk!
