The stretches of four games in five nights and back-to-backs have been reduced to all-time lows, with the four-in-fives to an average of less than one per team (a total of 27 for an average of 0.9 per team, with a maximum of 2 and down 61 percent from last season). The team average for back-to-back games has been trimmed from 19.3 per team last season to 17.8 this season. The league has also created more efficiency in the schedule to ensure that teams will travel less for their back-to-back sets.

Mavs have one 4 in 5 set. Unless I missed one nobody else in SW division has a 4 in 5 set.

Good thing we aren't in the running for a 'ship. That would be awful getting that schedule if we were.

That's why depth is so crucial in the NBA. Superstars still win you rings, but depth gets you through the regular season.

Kobe won't come close to playing even half of those games, and when he does he's not worth watching anymore.

ok - I see some "sense" with your point - BUT - the Lakers suck.
All they primarily bring is huge TV market, a living playing HOFamer in Kobe and
the Laker legacy.
BUT in reference to my suck comment above - Byron Scott is a horrible coach.
His coaching tactics are antiquated. The Lakers had one of the lowest 3-pointer
attempts (25th in the league) [side note - Mavs were 8th] and also in the bottom
tier of teams in FG% and pace of play.
As much as I like seeing Kobe lose - I would rather see other teams getting a shot for national TV games.

Yeah.
Big market historied teams get more games on national tv. Hell, when the Lakers come to Dallas, there are a bunch of Lakers fans in the AAC.
If televised games were going to be determined by exciting potential from new young players like the Lakers' Russel and Randle, Minnesota and Milwaukee would get twice as many games as the Lakers on national tv.

Thought this was somewhat related to the topic of the Lakers playing on national tv.
Ethan Strauss: Lakers CRUSHED the Clippers in local ratings last year. Less than half the wins, roughly twice the viewers

I picture Clippers fans as worse than Houston fans. At least with Houston fans, the only truly awful ones are the ones who hold deep hatred for the city of Dallas itself not just the Mavs(primarily because of the Cowboys). With the Clippers, they are finally winning games in the last 4 years. They have a franchise winning percent of less than 40% across 45 years and only 11 playoff appearances and 0 rings. To take it further if you took out the most recent 4 years and their pre-LA days then it's only 4 playoff appearances across 27 years. Take into the fact that they share time with Lakers, NBA royalty basically... I imagine the clips fans being absolutely awful right now with their team being relevant. Because I remember Texan fans cheering their asses off when they won a preseason game vs cowboys a few years back.... yes preseason... and the houston announcers were talking about some inner state trophy being passed to them for winning... So I'm scaling up when i consider how bad it must be right now listening to a die hard Clips fan since everything in LA is about the Lakers, whether they win or lose.

Clippers fan base starts with Penny Marshall.
Lakers fan base starts with Jack Nicholson.
Clippers 0 championship and 0 NBA Finals.
Lakers 16 championships and 31 NBA Finals.
Clippers suck even with their "superstar" player(s) and coach now. Easy to understand.
It's the same with the Cowboys. Even if they haven't won anything in two decades, people still watch them.
