I agree, Kiro. On their previous albums, there are about 2-3 standout songs and a lot of, well, weird stuff.

But this one is solid from start to finish.

Speaking of solid from start to finish, I picked up Mumford & Sons the other day. I know I'm behind on that, but it's great!

I agree. Gimme The Bends or OK Computer any day of the week over the 2000s stuff.

I LOVE Red, and have for a long time(Im also pretty sure Ive mentioned both of their other CDs in this thread.) How is this one compared to the last two? Their cover of Ordinary World is one of the best cover songs in recent memory.

I don't know guys... I listened to it again a lot with my bose earbuds while playing video games last night... it has already grown on me like 300%. I'd give it another couple listens before you throw it in the closet. My favorites so far are: morning mr magpie, codex and separator

I liked it. They don't really change up their style at all, in my opinion...its still classic Red. Unfortunately, there isn't really a stand out song that I want to listen to over and over. End of Silence had Break the Silence and Breath into Me, I&I had Fight Inside, but while there's several I really (Faceless), there's nothing that has way more plays than the others. That's my only major criticism, and for that reason, I'd rank it their "worst" album. Still good, you should still get it.

Yeah, it definitely grows on you.

It's just kind of an odd album because there aren't any songs that I'd consider to be "singles" on there, so nothing really stands out. But all the songs keep getting stuck in my head, so they must be doing something right...

to me, its an emotive album--nearly a play-it-front-to-back..

its not dancey, but i had an easy time settling into the different grooves.

i'm not really a huge radiohead fan, so maybe thats part of it... i'm not looking for a particular sound or feel. and my particular tastes seem to evolve, ebb, and flow regularly.

songs i like in order of appearance:
bloom
morning mr magpie
little by little
lotus flower
codex
separator

IMO Radiohead albums in order of best to worst (hard to say "worst" when talkin about radiohead) are OK computer > Kid A > Amnesiac > The Bends > King of Lambs > In Rainbows

(I haven't really listened to Hail to the thief or Pablo Honey much)

I've listened to the new one 3 times through now, twice with great headphones. It definitely grows on you and some of the tracks are awesome.

IMO "Nice dream" and "High and Dry" are waaay better than anything on In Rainbows or King of Lambs. That in itself vaults The Bends higher for me.

I think Sulk, Just and the title song, The Bends, are worse than anything on In Rainbows or King of Limbs, but that's just my opinion...

To me, The Bends was kind of a bridge album between what Radiohead needed to do to get big, and what Radiohead decided to do after they got big (kinda like The Beatles' Rubber Soul) - some of the songs are great and some of them aren't, but it's still a good album.

Comparing Radiohead songs/albums is kinda like comparing orgasms - some are better than others, but they're all good...

I'm hispanic and listen to spanish stuff too.

Mana is perhaps the greatest band ever from Mexico.

My hispanic side says that is some pretty good stuff too haha.

I just scored some tickets to see Arcade Fire in Austin on May 3rd.

This week has been epic for me.

16-bit Lolitas - Murder Weapon

A progressive track, so there is a little mixing time before things start getting funky at 2:30.

Paul Keeley - Wegel

I really love his synth design. Very clean.

And, of course:

...which I love a little more each time I listen to it.

If you like the sound of Ritter, though, listen to his 2006 effort The Animal Years. That's when he's at his best, I think. "Girl in the War," "Lillian Egypt," "Good Man," and "Monster Ballads" are all just great.

On that topic, I wrote a song back in October in 7/4 time, and wasn't aware that it was until about a week ago when I played it for a friend and he commented on the strange time signature.

I've also started playing mandolin a little more. I'll never be at the point where I'll play it on stage or anything (for one, there are too many other instruments I need to be playing), but it's good to at least explore an instrument tuned in fifths for the first time since elementary school.

Awesome dude! Mandolin is by far my favorite instrument to perform with now.

Currently on an early-college binge.
