Playing Houston in the first round is having home court. If Utah had not been the 4th seed, they don't advance.

Dallas needs to get in the top 4 if they want to advance.

They seemed to do alright in a Game 7 in Houston the year before. And last year, Utah won the first 2 games in Houston anyway--they didn't even have HCA, despite their higher seed.

Home court advantage is incredibly overrated in the playoffs, most of the time. The reason you see such a correlation between the team with HCA and the team winning the series is because the team with HCA is usually better.

Why didn't Bass even attempt a shot? Didn't he know how much time was left? Ugh.

Boston was 13-1 at home and 3-9 on the road in the playoffs and finals last year. If they don't actually get more games at home each round, do they still win either of the first two series?

Probably not, but I'm not saying that being at home isn't advantageous. In an individual game (read: Game 7), HCA is huge. But most series don't go to 7 games anyway, and a superior team is going to wrap up a series before then--usually--regardless of the order of their home games.
