Bulls try to bowl over our five game winstreak
Bulls come to town on a 9 game winstreak. Mavs on a 5 game winstreak.
Bulls are almost fully healthy. Mavs are without their twin stars.
OUT
Luka - ankle - questionable
KP - COVID - out
WCS - Not interested in the NBA - out

I'm confused as to why KP is out so long because of covid.
I've seen so any other guys come back after missing like 2 games.

If you can figure out why Covid is so unpredictable, then you will be Time's person of the year.
KP might have bad symptoms. And even if they aren't bad ones, I doubt the NBA lets you play of you have any at all. And that can be tough because Covid cough can last a while.
Who knows, luckily we are winning without him.

Count me in as one of the Mavs fans who wanted this guy despite his lack of 3-Point shooting. Not sure if the Mavs even had a chance but the new system Kidd likes to run would have been perfect for DeRozan and not resigning THJ could have been a major starting point.
How to solve a problem like DeRozan
The player that divided MFFL twitter this offseason has silenced any potential doubters with the season he’s having in Chicago.
Fivethiryeight has an article that goes in depth on just how fantastic DeRozan’s entire season has been, but during the Bull’s current nine-game winning streak, he’s been positively cold blooded. Without his back-to-back game-winning buzzer beaters, the streak wouldn’t even be a streak at all. On top of that, his proficiency at not onle scoring in the midrange but drawing fouls while he’s doing it is going to be a true test on if this stretch of defense for the Mavericks is a mirage or the real deal. Not to mention the Bulls other weapons like Lonzo Ball, Nikola Vucevic, and the always electric Zach LaVine. To be the best, you’ve got to beat the best, and right now, the Bulls are playing like they’re the best team in the league.

Ok, now I'm starting to believe in Josh Green.
But no moral victory bs. Gotta win this one.

Dude. Vuc spent about 45 seconds of illegal time in the paint on defense in the first quarter alone. Idk what the refs are doing.

This defense is for real
I was hesitant at 1st but this is a much better defensive team.
Lot's of wing flexibility with Green now getting minutes

Best win of the season without question. Don't let up. Take no prisoners!
Brunson and Green both shot 80% from the field.

What a team effort. Big defense vibes. Ball movement.
Green is just this guy now. Bane is stinging less Every game that passes where Green gets mins lately.
Great win

1st time Mavs have won 6 straight games since 2015 season.
Holding 5 out of your last 6 opponents to under 100 points
I think we can all admit now that a coaching change was much needed even if it was just to let the players hear a different voice.

You know what actually stings less if Green is the real deal? The potential loss of Brunson.
Luka/Green/DFS/KP/Powell.
The bigger surprise is that Powell is somehow not dog snot anymore.

Good lord re-watching the game
1:15 Mavs are down 10
Green drives and gets an and-one (cuts to 7)
Green forces his man into an off-balance fadeaway for a miss
Green drives and passes to DFS for the three (cuts to 4)
Green draws the offensive foul for the TO
Kleber gets a three assisted by Doncic (cuts to 1)
6 points for the Mavs and two stops all credit to Green.
Man is a one-man run and totally powered the 9-0 run to end the half

This team better not be giving me hope just to rip my heart out.
So happy for Green, I had been one of the ones preaching patience, but even I was frustrated with his lack of production. Now imagine we had actually let the kid develop last year instead of forcing minutes to Josh Richardson.
If you don't have a wink wink deal with Brunson regarding a return, you need to trade him now. We can't lose that asset without getting something in return.

(below info - not mine - they aggregated from various sources)
It's a 113-99 final, Mavs win. What a performance against one of the league's best teams, holding Chicago below 100 for only the eighth time this season. Dallas has won six games in a row.
the 22-14-14 Triple-double for Luka was the first (20-14-14) TD this season. It is the 5th of Luka's career. Only Oscar (28), Westbrook (13), Wilt (10), and Magic (6) have more such games in their career.
1st time Mavs have won 6 straight games since 2015 season.
Holding 5 out of your last 6 opponents to under 100 points
Brunson and Green both shot 80% from the field.
After going 4 of 7 tonight, Dorian Finney-Smith has hit at least half his 3s in six of his last eight games, averaging over 5 3PA in that time. Dude is on fire right now. Also four of the last six for Reggie Bullock and four of the last seven for Maxi Kleber. Mavs are red-hot.
Dallas has hit 38.4 percent from 3 since Jan. 1. The Mavs shot 32.8 percent before that.
Mavs ended CHI's 9 game win streak tonight. They could possibly end an 11 game streak on Fri in MEM. MEM is going to make it 9 tonight. Have GS & MIN at home Tue & THU. And if they take care of Biz in NY on Wed will have a chance for 8 game streak of their own in MEM.

Surely they aren't in the dark on a game plan for him one way or another. Many of us have thought he would be fine with a raise and a starting spot here. I'd hate to lose him but if we do, it better be for a nice piece(s).

I definitely don't want to get rid of him, but it's such a risk to go into an UFA unless you're willing to pay him whatever he asks. Which I'd gauge his value at 22.5 mil per right now. Maybe more...

i think we have to go in thinking we're going to pay him whatever he asks
then worst case we could flip him and not lose him for nothing.
can't afford that type of asset depletion

Gotta pay him unless they get creative and upgrade. We fvcked ourselves signing THJ. Can't compound that and blame JB situation.

We're over the cap whether or not we re-sign Brunson and we have full bird rights so we can actually pay more than any other team (max+ supermax are on the table, even if we'd be silly to pay either).
It will be a real test for Cuban. Will he be willing to pay the tax to keep Brunson?

That's not surprising
He's not that good if he's not hitting shots and brings nothing else to the table.
Mavs should be ashamed of themselves for resigning this dude for that amount dough.

We're never going to get back what Brunsons value currently is. And why would anyone trade right now with the Mavs for him? Teams can wait til he's UFA.
So he's either walking for free, or Cuban better dig deep in his pockets.

If Cuban cheaps out and doesn’t re-sign Dodo and Brunson then I may just stop watching for good.
